    300 tdi coolant freeze

Update on my situation: I had it towed to a local garage, they thawed it out and other than a host clamp everything is fine. Obviously they drained and pressure tested it, and now it's good to -40 C so that should be OK. I definitely dodged a bullet!

    300 tdi coolant freeze

Hi all. It's been a while, finished my Africa trip and imported my 300tdi 110 into Canada. For some reason it didn't occur to me to change the coolant until this morning, and I went out to find it frozen. There was coolant (frozen) that had expanded out of the upper rad hose and some...

    Neutral Safety Switch

Hello all. Sorry I've not been active for a while, I was on the road. I just finished up my year long trek through Africa, and now have the daunting task of trying to import the car into Canada. :) I got my landy through customs OK (after $3000 for 'decontamination' on a clean car, letters...

Power steering dead in southern Spain

Finally getting around to sending an update (sorry for the delay). I ended up wussing out and taking it to a garage (didn't know where to get the parts, nowhere to do the work, and not the right tools to test if it turned out not to be the pump). It was the pump, its changed, and I'm now in...

Power steering dead in southern Spain

Update: I am at a camp site in Malaga near the dealer here, where I will take it Monday morning. I will see if I can sort it before then, but don't think I can work on it here... no level areas I'm allowed to park and I don't think they will like me dismantling my car here. I have poked...

Power steering dead in southern Spain

Not knowing the PAS system I spent some time reading the workshop manual and am thinking the belt might be an issue as its not too old but a little worn (frayed edge). I will head to a camp near a local stealer in Malaga and take a look and try some of what you suggest. Sadly, nothing open...

    Morocco May/June 2011

Hmmm.... I figured with 2 days to get there and 2 days to get back, that leaves, at most, 12 days for Morocco itself. In general I've found that I really don't liked rushing around during my vacations so I'm thinking that's not enough. I'll have to think it over. - Andrew

Want to do an expedition, no idea where!

Ditto. If I hadn't flown in from Belgium I doubt I would have come on Sunday. Some of the talks were good, but the floor show was fairly poor I thought... only a few people I wanted to talk to and mostly people trying to sell you packages. I did meet the guys from Atlas Overland there, who I...

    Morocco May/June 2011

Due to changes in my vacation dates available, I'm now thinking of taking two weeks now and just going to the Pyrenees instead... leaving Morocco for September/October. - Andrew

    Hi from Belgium

I'm in Belgium too (Brugge). If you're not too far away and ever need a second pair of hands, let me know. I'm still learning a lot so helping out another landy owner would do me well.... - Andrew

    Africa 2012

I'm planning on going for a full year, maybe more if I can afford it. By the way, I'm no longer going to leave Nov 2011, as I'm pretty sure I won't be ready by then. I've realized I should do a couple small trips in 2011 first (like my post for "Morocco in April/May") and am also not saving...

    Africa 2012

I've read that aside from vehicle prep (and carnet), the day to day costs should be in the $40-80/day range.... depends highly on if you're buying alcohol and staying in hotels or camping. I would budget no less than 15k GBP, 20 is better. You should do your own research though, and come to...
