Yes thanks, I understand the problem better now. Luckily the weather's been warmer so I've been able to start the thing relatively easily this week. To be honest looking at the cost of repair it's probably not worth it as I've got to sell all my cars in the next few months. Simon

To be clear whatever it is that has failed is causing the engine to be over fuelled, and so it simply floods. It has been disconnected and now the engine runs ok, but won't run when it's not warm. Which is pretty useless whenI need to get to work and it's below zero.

I thought I was sure, but living on next to no sleep for months on end doesn't make for good memory. I decided to entertain the possibility I had got it muddled.

Could have been knife sensor, would that be the MAF ?

Garage says mine has gone hence why I can't get the RR going when it's cold, and that it's £125 and rare as rocking horse poo. I have no idea exactly what it is and googling knife injector doesn't help. What else is this bit of kit called or what exactly does it do ? TIA Simon

Anyone know what size the metal clip on the end of the front seat belt is in a RR (1988 model)? Is it by any chance 40mm long (from the tip to to where the plastic starts) 22mm wide and with a 22x14mm hole in it? Would go and measure mine but I forgot to do it last night and now I'm miles...

I never said rounded off, I said sheared off..the bleed nipple was no longer on the cylinder, and once that happens you're pretty much going to have to remove the cylinder, so might as well replace it. And not sure about your Landy (does it have twins on the front ?), but mine only has four...

Think there's a bit of a difference between an 8 quid new cylinder (or even 16 if you need both) than the cost of a whole axle, but if you are that hard up then I can see why you'd want someone else to buy your beer! :D I was just stating the route I'd taken, as for me, getting the jobs done...
