    Thanks Irish, you were spot on. Found the O/S front drive shaft has play in it at the IRD end. The N/S one has no movement so I'm guessing that the play is unacceptable. The movement was only apparent with the wheels hanging, on the ground everything appeared solid. Good call, I'll get onto it...

    Thanks once again Irish. I'll get the car up on jacks tomorrow and see if I can find this movement you mention where the shaft goes into the IRD. My garage was making noises about replacing the IRD but I wasn't convinced. I'll let you know what I find. Many thanks, StuartJ
