In answer to one of the questions NO I am not aiming to tow. Its purely going to be a family car which will be used maybe up to £5kmiles a year. I am more interested in buying a nice one which will last a few years so happy with a Di rather than a TD4 if its been well looked after Cheers

Sorry dumb question.. did some searching on the forum and I can see it came in 2001.. so the L series is pre TD4 ie 2.0 Di ? On this forum people quote things like 'if its going to be a freelander then the td4 is the least worst one !"
