Discovery 2 td5 power box v remap pro's cons anyone

Completely agree with above. Mike is a number 1 guy. Transformed my Discovery TD5. Explains everything he's doing then stays with you while you test drive in your own time to make sure you're happy with the changes. Tell him what you're looking for, performance, towing, economy he'll sort it.

    Dastek or BSI Chip ???

I have to say I tried a Dastek Chip for a year or two but could never convince myself there was any significant performance gain. had Mike from dynachip work his magic on my '03MY TD5 and it's like a new motor. More go loww down but it just keeps coming. lost that nasty hesitency when you go to...

    disco td5 diesel fuel consumption

Just be interested to know if you guys getting more than 26-27 have air-con/ACE/18" wheels fitted. I'm sure one or a combination of these extras causes considerable drag on the consumption.

    What a difference a re-map makes!

Reference what to do in regards to insurance, all I can say is when Mike from Dynachip was doing mine, he showed me a date which equates to when the ECU was originally programmed is embedded in the firmware. this should change if an update is made but sometimes..........;)

    TD5 ECU Remap

I actually de-EGRd de-catted and de-centre silencered mine a while back. Hard to say if it did make that much difference performance-wise and yes it does drone a bit when you're towing but it does soumd good pedal-to-the-metal:D

    TD5 ECU Remap

Hi Jagdude, Mike came to me straight after he'd completed yours, arriving spot on time. Really nice guy and very thorough as you say. Agree with you 100%, this is how they should have been out of the box. can't understand what Landrover were playing around at. Certainly finding (when I'm in...

    disco td5 diesel fuel consumption

been getting 26-27 general driving, think it drops to about 22 when towing the caravan. Just had a Dynachip re-map so will be interested to see what happens with that (I must keep my foot off the loud pedal:p)

    Trying to de-cat my TD5

No help to you now I know but I had the same problem with the cross-member bolts so gave up on fitting the de-cat pipe. then I had to put the truck into the local 4x4 specialist in my village and asked him to loosen them up while he was underneath. From what he said this is far from unusual and...

    gutted- TD5 spraying diesel

My village 4x4 specialist did it. Dropped tank and replaced pipes. Asked him to loosen the nuts on the exhaust system which were corroded and replaced all the little bolts on the cross-members with stainless allen-heads to make it easire to remove when the time comes. Total bill 178 beer...

    gutted- TD5 spraying diesel

Just had to have mine done as it was suffering from exactly the same problem.65000 miles on a 52 plate. Garage dropped the tank to replace the lines and (hopefully) set them up so they won't chafe again (at least in my time!)

    disco2 decat pipe

I planned to do this ages ago and hit the same problem with the cross-member bolts so gave up. Wagon went into local garage to replace leaking fuel lines above tank this week so asked the guy to sort these out on both the cross members and the rear exhaust bolts which had also seized. Charged me...

    cb radio

This thread carrying on has set me thinking (painful!!). As I said earlier I use an aerial bracket on my roof bars but I noticed my Disco has a seal grommet in a hole in the roof near the back (probably for a GPS aerial). Anyone tried using this to mount a CB twig? Strikes me if the hole is...

    cb radio

I managed to source a bracket that clamps to the roof bars, leading the cable through the door seal. radio is mounted in the dash top-centre (as above) so is easily removable but very handy. because this mounting covers up the speaker I've mounted a small extension speaker to the drivers side of...

    Stiiff Box when hot

I've got a similar problem with my 2003 S2 but my feeling is it's not the actual gear box but the selector mechanism. When the box gets hot it feels like the gear lever stiffens and the bias springs can't work properly making gear selection difficult. When the box is cool it feels no worse than...

    Red or Blue Coolant???

We're talking 2 grand or more of engine here and you're talking about putting supermarket economy anti-freeze in! Surely the few extra quid the proper stuff costs is worth it!!

NS rear wheel far lower [6"] than OS rear [Td5]

Probably Yes Quite safe if it pumps back up again quickly but plan the repair Had mine like this for a good few weeks before I fixed it. If you're reasonably handy it's a dead easy job and non-LR bags are half the price of 'pukka' ones. Try a search on this forum for more info.

    Help - Air Suspension

I've got the same problem, driver side going down (but not always!). Sourced a pair of bags from Island 4x4 for £160 with free delivery. Bags are badged Dunlop, Trelleborg PNEURIDE which seem to come from a very big Swedish manufacturer. Only difference I can see from originals is the tubing is...

    TD5 gearbox stiff

Don't know about stiff gearbox but on mine (2003 TD5 XS) the gear lever seems to stiffen up after a few miles (oh er mother!!) and its difficult to find the gate as the bias springs can't work. Anyone had anything like this?

    New Pads On 2001 Td5

Might be worth thinking about changing the discs at the same time. My experience with the asbestos free pads is they eat discs. Not a difficult job on the TD5.
