    Gems removal Thor replacement

Hardly worth buying a Thor engine if you don't intend to use any of the good parts on it really. Why not just get a like-for-like replacement if you don't intend to use the nicer inlet manifold & better engine management etc??? Still, it's your money and the "land rover technician" clearly...

    Gems removal Thor replacement

Mounts look to be the same to me. And I would say it would be the least of your worries! The inlet manifold is different, the timing cover is different, the amount and type of lambda sensors can be different (depending on the country of sale) Most of these should be solved by putting the new...

    P38s........

My 4.6 Vogue (with Thor engine) is excellent. I probably wouldn't have another because I intend to keep the one I have until I can have a newer ones with the TDV8. Happily insurance is not a problem to me - £200 per year :) It's the Impreza and TVR that cost the real money ;)

Need a little Harman Kardon help please!

An update: I have written some code to go on a small AVR microcontroller to translate the wheel buttons into something the Blaupunkt stereo can understand. This works quite nicely. :) If anyone has this issue then I may well be able to supply a low(ish) cost solution if a small run of robust...

Silly v8 idea for my P38

LOL at the solution looking for a problem comment :D Nail hit dead centre. They're 10 bolt heads, and they started out the same as my P38 heads before TVR got hold of them. Not sure how much bigger than 28cc they made them, but the static CR as standard was supposed to be 10:1 On the TVR at...

Silly v8 idea for my P38

I am lucky enough to have 2 v8 engined vehicles in my fleet. Assuming I remain gainfully employed, I am looking to build an interesting new engine for my TVR Griffith (5 litre with "stage 4" big valve heads, whatever they are ;) ) It produces over 320bhp and 350 ftlbs at the moment, and the...

    Opinons sought: P38 4.0 -v- 4.6

My 4.6 Thor seems to return better economy than any 4.0 I have heard about. (It also seems better than many 4.6 GEMS equipped RRs.) 16 mpg in town and 22mpg on the motorway/good A roads. I'd suggest the additional torque provided by the thor manifold and Bosch management were reasonably large...

Need a little Harman Kardon help please!

Thanks for the vote of confidence SpudH ;) The wheel remote would have been easier if there weren't errors in RAVE!! The early HK stereos were as you describe - an amp in each door. Mine is a late 2000/2001 model so has only one (looks to be 5 or 6 channel) amp located behind the sub. lac500...

I have 3 cars with an average cylinder count of 6.666 Guess that means one of them is missing half of its engine. ;)

Need a little Harman Kardon help please!

I would like to change the stereo in my 2001 Vogue, primarily to get rid of the useless cassette player (I have no cassettes)! To that end, I "borrowed" the Blaupunkt DAB stereo from my wife's TVR. (She won't mind - what's the point in a stereo when you have 106dBA from the exhaust? ) My RR...

    Hello

Hi all. I have a 2001 Range Rover Vogue amongst other vehicles. It's one of the last P38s made. I like it because it's a nice go-anywhere armchair.
