    If I may say so, just be patient, and get involved with the forum community. I have to say that many forums have restrictions on this very thing. Without forums like one, most of us would learn bugger all about the workings of our vehicles. Me included. Mind you, a thick skin can come in handy!

    Yes, as the others say, quite normal. Only worry when it goes from 5th in no particular direction! That'll then be a broken "bias plate", and easy to fix.

    Well, I'm newish to this forum and it all seems straightforward to me. Anyway, I've heard that often a squirt of something like lanolin or Acf50 into the depths of the switch will help. Other than that buy a new ignition switch

    I think you have hit the nail on the head. The "Hotstart" kits in the Uk are approx £300+ and in hotter places, that would buy a lot of fuel. I can't imagine what -20 to -25 would be like, and I certainly wouldn't like to have work on a motor in those sort of temperatures! One of the benefits...

    Anglo Bulgarian, this is just a suggestion regarding your difficult starting in cold conditions. Have you considered a Kenlowe Hotstart electric pre heater? I've used them on our vehicles for many years. Of course close access to a power point is necessary.
