I've complained about mine since I've had it (Nov 2010). Mine gets the poor figures mentioned in the above posts. Was told (after I bought it) that it will improve after 7000 miles - It didn't. Currently hovers around 29MPG.

Perhaps it may then in a Freelander 1 but it rarely goes in a ZT or 75 - my garage works on these cars every day & we hardly ever get KV6 HGF cars. Apart from the VIS valves the KV6 engine is near bomb proof.

The KV6 was also used in the Rover 75 & MG-ZT, earlier versions in the Rover 800 (It was a Rover/Powertrain engine) & to be honest it is very rare you get HGF with the KV6 unless you are very unlucky. HGF is far more common in the K4 as in the 1.8.

It's going in on Tuesday to be looked at & I don't want it back till it is improved - if it don't get improved = buy a box of matches lol.

I don't have that issue on my 59 reg FL2, I just have a complaint about the crappy fuel consumption. Mine is a manual, I don't have the air-con on with the climate control & I drive it gently for less than 27MPG on the average fuel reading which is never reset so should be a good representation...

I have a rented forecourt opposite my house with a garage too though my MG is in the garage & the Freelander stays on the forecourt with 3 security lights, a camera & the forecourt is chained accross.

That is a very fair comment! I wonder if the Government will remember how usefull the 4x4 was in the winter when they do the Budget thing & put up road tax again!

I often read posts about doors coming off a Freelander. What is all this about, is is just a forum joke? As I have not ever seen or heard anywhere else of this happening!
