    Hi J, took the RR to an independent todayfor a diagnostic check........... First thing he did was connect it up to a "T4" diagnostic program and ran through everything.............. no problems were shown as present,however there were 8 recorded faults historically recorded .These were deleted...

    Ireplaced plugs ( thought they were the problem )........ just checked the leads ,looked vry good ,no cracks,perishing etc + no sparking seen when checking in the dark !!

    Checked the plugs ,NKS BPR6ES ...all new ! the leads look OK ,almost new............ Checked for sparks "in the dark" ..nothing !

    I think there is a slight miss on start up , it's just not really smooth & even running when on tickover or slower speeds , if I accelerate , it seems to pull well and doesn't appear to miss until I let cruise control take over and come down to about 30 - 40 mph. Bit difficult to explain ...

    Thanks for the promt replies........ Will check Rotor arm & leads tomorrow . But with regards to ............ " is it missing when you start up? it could be mas senser " What is it , where is it & what do I check ??? :confused::confused:

    My 2002 p38 4L has a seems to "jerk" when only light throttle is applied at 30- 40 Mph as thogh it has a slight misfire . Also the tickover is not as smooth as I have come to expect from V8s " bit Lumpy " !! I have checked all the plugs etc & they are new & appear ok. Acceleration etc appears OK...

    Thanks for the info , I will investigate further BUT does any body know the difference between NGK PFR 6N & NGK BPR 6ES and which ones should I use ???? Thanks in advance

    I have checked my spark plugs and they are new ( just been replaced on a service by the stealer ) they are NGK PFR 6N ............. But I have been informed that they should be NGK BPR 6ES, Should I replace the PFR 6N ............( 2002 p38 4.0 ) ???? another question from a newbie >>>> what...

    I read somewhere, when fitting new plugs to 99MY engines ,you must not adjust the gap !! Is this correct & if not what should the gap be ?? I am presuming 99MY is year of manufacture .............. or is it ? mallard

    sorry for the delay , unfortunately I only got the service book , but thanks to all the assistance I received here I have now managed to download the owners handbook from Range Rover P38 2000 Owner´s Handbook Just got to get to grips with the sat nav now !! Thanks again to everybody
