    Number plates

Hi a mate of mine was stopped a few years ago in a Range Rover with a 'stick on' vinyl number plate on the front leading edge of the bonnet. Plod told him....number plate must be straight and below bonnet height... But then they'll tell you anything !.........................

Changing Fuel Filter - 300 TDI

Hi...I unscrew the old fuel filter , tip out the old diesel ( usually into same disposal container as the old engine oil) then I fill the new filter with diesel injector cleaner........and fit as usual. Never had to bother with bleeding.

Way too much clatter and banging

Hi.........apologies for not being clear as I am 'new' in the Zone. When I looked at the front nearside brake, the inner pad was 'loose' and could be moved easily by hand. Removing the pad, pumping the pistons, spraying cleaner and carefully levering them back to then sit evenly against the pad...

Way too much clatter and banging

Hi............I had a similar problem. Turned out to be front nearside brake pad not sitting close enough to the brake disk and making an awful racket when slowing down....goes away if you touch the brakes. Easily cured by adjustment of the pistons against the offending pad. Good luck.

    Gearbox breather

Thanks for that..... I had drained the 'final drive' gearbox..but coudn't get the filler/level plug undone, unbelievably tight, and sub-frame gets in the way. I was getting worried and wondered if I could feed oil in through a breather..but.. used an Eezy Bleed brake 'kit' and blew the oil in...
