Hi, I hope you don't mind me dropping you a line. I've just been reading a thread you posted on a while ago: http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f48/who-actually-has-300tdi-head-200tdi-block-171270.html From what you posted, am I right in thinking if I build up a motor using the block, crank and...

    200tdi/300tdi cross

Thanks for that. Sounds like it'll be easier to cut the engine mounts off and weld the 300tdi mounts on.

    200tdi/300tdi cross

Hi, can anyone tell me is it possible to buid up a 200tdi short engine with a 300tdi head, timing gear and flywheel housing, please?

Disco LSE (LWB Disco) does such a thing exist?

I didn't think the Disco 2 is any longer than the Disco 1?

Disco LSE (LWB Disco) does such a thing exist?

I like the way your mind works! It'd be a shame to butcher my Rangie LSE though :) Maybe I'll look out for some on fleabay.

Thanks for the response. Maybe I'll have to build myself one :)

Disco LSE (LWB Disco) does such a thing exist?

I've googled it and there's a few mentions of Disco LSE. They seem to be American sites and looking at the pics, they seem to be standard Discos with a high level of trim. I was hoping there might be a long wheelbase version, similar to the RRC LSE. Has anyone seen one or know of it's existence?

    Will a 3.5 motor replace a 4.6 in a P38?

I think the heads are pretty much the same from 3.5 through to 4.6. One of the bolt holes on the O/S at the front is different. I used the good old shim type head gaskets to try and gain a bit on compresion. Don't kow isf it's made any difference.

    Will a 3.5 motor replace a 4.6 in a P38?

Checked the wiring between TPS and ECU and guess what? :) Fixed that and started her up - shot up to 2000 then climbed to about 3000 and stayed there! So I knocked her off, it's a brand new engine after all! Stuck the machine on her again and the throttle position was reading 12%. I read up...

    Will a 3.5 motor replace a 4.6 in a P38?

'Throttle Position Sensor (X171) This sensor is a variable resistor. The signal informs the ECM (Z132) of the actual position of the throttle plate. Failure of the Throttle Position Sensor (X171) will result in poor idle and lack of throttle response. If the Throttle Position Sensor (X171)...

HELP!!!! Overheating V8. Going mad here....

J, for my next project I'm going to try grinding the main journals down on my old 4.6 crank to fit in a 3.5 block then using the 4.6 con rods and pistons with it to make what I think will be about a 3.8, but with more material behind the liners. Actually it'll be the project after my next...

HELP!!!! Overheating V8. Going mad here....

I couldn't find a way to make mine work. I tried EVERY THING. I lived with it for a while but it boiled over on me whilst I was towing a heavily loaded horse box in a single lane contra-flow. My pride wouldn't let me cause a traffic jam so I plodded on. By the time I pulled over the oil had...

HELP!!!! Overheating V8. Going mad here....

My discovery did the same thing. Some days it would be ok and others it would boil up and blow the coolant out. I think that what was happening with mine was when the engine got to a certain temperature the expansion in the block would open up the crack and allow the pressure from the...

    Will a 3.5 motor replace a 4.6 in a P38?

J, doing my head in is right! The push rods, lifters, rockers and timing gears are from the 4.6. Only the block, crank, con rods and pistons are from the 3.5. I'm going to do a compresion test on her when I get home. I'll let you know the results.

    Will a 3.5 motor replace a 4.6 in a P38?

Done that J. No different. It's like it's hitting the rev limiter, but at 1600 rpm. I tried spraying a bit of brake cleaner around the engine to see if there are any intake leaks but the revs didn't change.

    Will a 3.5 motor replace a 4.6 in a P38?

I'm not sure that they are bigger? They looked about the same, but I didn't measure them. I think the ECU should figure it out - it knows how much air it's getting so it should put the right amount of fuel with it. The lambda sensors will tell it if it's lean or rich, so it'll adjust the mixture...

HELP!!!! Overheating V8. Going mad here....

I reckon initial diagnosis was right. The block will be knackered. I've had three Rovers with 4.6 motors and they all went the same way.

ECU was working fine with the old engine Nathan.

    Will a 3.5 motor replace a 4.6 in a P38?

Some might say I'm crazy, and maybe I am, but that's what I've done! Obviously, it's not as simple as just bolting it in and the job's not finished yet. The 3.5 motor is in and runs ok but has a misfire and won't rev past about 1600 rpm. As I open the throttle the revs start to lift then seem...
