    D2 4.0 LPG/Coolant problem

Well the only thing I can think of is the vaporiser, it warms the gas up using the coolant. whether there could be a leak in that letting gas into the coolant I don't know.

    probable outcome...

It's tough **** I am afraid, there is really only one defence to a straight rear ender and that no brake lights on the vehicle in front. From what you have said you were simply driving too close for the speed and road conditions.

ACE-SLS removal help on 7 seater

Allegedly the DII was never type approved for 7 seats on springs, so technically you could be in breach of construction and use regulations, but in reality it probably isn't an issue. However not informing your insurance company the vehicle has been modified from the manufactured specification...

Why did you buy a disco!!

Already had a Series and Defender so it seemed the next logical step and as a bonus the family don't mind going out in it.

V8's with LPG in hot climates?

When I did some research on whether this was worth fitting to mine the general consensus was no, you only really need it if your engine doesn't have harden seat valves or for certain modern jap engines and Ford Zetec engines apparently!

    LPG or Quad ??

Mine takes 80 litres of gas and 25 litres petrol which gives me a minimum of 320 miles and if I take easy 400plus is possible.

    Miles per gallon

Unless you are getting very cheap gas you can't possibly be getting 18 on gas even on a cost equivalent basis if you are only getting 8 on the hard stuff. LPG is more than half the cost of petrol and you generaly get about 10% less mpg volume for volume. Latest fill-up best ever figures...

    LPG or Quad ??

Yep same was said when I replaced the 4.0 in my DII with a 4.6 but in fact it's does about 12% more to the gallon. My 4.6 does around 19mpg on LPG, on diesel prices that's equivalent to about 33mpg so just as cheap to run and a darn sight more fun than the most TDis and TD5 even if they have...

    LPG or Quad ??

On LPG you'll probably get about 11mpg so cost wise compared to petrol you'll do 19 miles for the 13 you do on petrol.

    whats it worth ?

The air is fed into the exhaust manifold and it is here the surplus fuel is burnt of not in the cylinder. Should look like this:

    whats it worth ?

If its what I think it is my old engine had this it's Secondary Air Injection not EGR, it pumps additional clean air in during cold starts to get the system burning cleaner till it warms up, there is a fairly large external pump that pushes the air in normally bolted to the bulkhead. It can be...

Getting to the point of gving up!

Thanks for your thoughts. I solved the fuel consumption problem a few weeks ago by disconnecting the lambdas and I have now solved the hesitation problem by replacing the coil packs, goes like a rocket ship now. May have to strip it down again as number 5 lead is too tight and pops off...

Getting to the point of gving up!

Bugger lost my reply. Swapping out the ECU is not a simple option only person within 50 miles that can do it is a main dealer, last time we used a mobile guy Dynachip who despite the fact they were coming to do another job anyway I was charged £250 for nothing job. As for the LPG ECU wouldn't...

Getting to the point of gving up!

Well I will investigate this further. Interesting I have done 101.4 miles of steady 60-65 mph motorway work today on LPG with the lambdas disconnected for a total of 21.75 litres which I make 21.66mpg, although I still have the hesitation! What is happening is the ECU is now using a default...

Getting to the point of gving up!

Stu, no they haven't, when I suggested they didn't quite laugh but said it can't, all the LPG ECU does is switch the petrol injectors on and off and fuel the LPG injectors based on the signals form the main ECU. Just an extra note you can make the Lambdas go rich by restricting the air flow.

This is what we suspect but every sensor and wire has been tested and shows correct.
