I dont think that it's an immobiliser issue as the message display would say so. as you say could be your gear selector switch.

It's almost the same here, as I'm looking to advertise my 2 P38s for £4995 each after paying £1900 for the 4.0 and £1750 for the 4.6.

I just used a pair of thin screwdrivers on mine, but have also used a cut and bent wire coat hanger. You need to prize off the plastic side covers on the stereo face first though, should come off easily. You will then see 2 holes either side of it which you put the prongs into and voila!
