    Split charge questions

I reckon because I jump started myself off the winch battery a few months ago and connected the jump leads up the wrong way round :o

    Split charge questions

So it turns out that its a voltage sensitive relay, so does only need 3 connections. It senses when the primary battery voltage is above 13.5 volts and turns on to charge the second battery. My old one is pretty melted inside, so £44 later for a new one and I'm back in business. I suppose it...

    Split charge questions

If I have the engine running while winching, then the relay is switched on to charge the winch battery. Surely as the winch discharges the winch battery it will try to draw current through the relay from the main battery. Assume that is why it is a 200A relay fitted? Seems like a fairly basic...

    Split charge questions

OK, thanks. So it would appear that it has probably never worked! In which case it is amazing how long the battery lasted having not been charged in about the 2 years I have owned it. Luckily I very rarely have call to use the winch!

    Split charge questions

Thanks guys. Batteries are earthed together through chassis, so no worries there. If I am understanding this correctly then my relay should have a switched live to it as well to turn it on with the ignition (so 4 connections in total to the relay, rather than my current 3). And yes, engine...

    Split charge questions

Hi, I have a dual battery set up with split charge on my 110. I think the set up was fitted from new to serve the winch fitted on the front. 1st battery obviously runs the engine, 2nd battery is a optima battery directly wired to the winch. There is a dual charge relay (I dont know any more...

Ex mil, 2.5n/a 90, 1992 for sale or maybe p/x

The Antars are nice, but they fetch a fair price! Seem to get the most for your money with Rissian/Eastern block machines. The last Kraz I saw sold for £4k, not bad for 13 tons of iron with a 14 litre engine!

Ex mil, 2.5n/a 90, 1992 for sale or maybe p/x

Where abouts are you? I wasnt really looking for something like an MB trac to be honest but I can think of uses for one. Maybe you would like to PM me. I do kinda have my heart set on one of these below, have so far resisted 2 opportunities to buy this summer.

Possibly, depends on the condition and what you think its worth.

Ex mil, 2.5n/a 90, 1992 for sale or maybe p/x

Thinking of selling my 90. I have owned it 3 years, and was my first truck. Still a bit undecided but it seems a shame to just leave it sitting about. I am only selling as I started to outgrow the 90 and got offered a 110 at an agreeable price. Had the 110 not come along I would still be using...

    Need a balljoint in Cheshire!

Hi folks, Had a balljoint on the link between the 2 wheels on my defender start to go bad on my drive up to see my parents. Need to head back for work near the south coast on wednesday afternoon, and would like to replace it before the journey. Does anyone know of a parts shop near to...

    2.5 N/A engines

Mine is a hardtop. It has wide tyres, but no off road shrapnel bolted to it. No other changes, I do service it every now and again. The trailer is 750kg loaded, and I often have the truck fully loaded to the GVW. On really steep long hills 20mph is likely with the list of gear you have. It...

    2.5 N/A engines

The previous owner of my truck with 2.5na provided me with evidence of doing 35mpg. I generally get about 28 towing and low 30s on longer journeys. It all depends how you drive it. If you have a lead foot you'll get rubbish milage from a 200tdi too. As long as you arent a racer it goes fine...

    Vehicle transport

Thanks Kris, probably the fastest that truck has ever gone on the back of your lorry! Hope my firends dont see the picture or I'll never hear the end of it being on a 'breakdown' truck. Managed to get the starter off without taking the exhaust off, so just got to knock a new core plug in and...

    Vehicle transport

Quick thanks to Kris. Delivered my truck monday night, seriously fast service! Definately recommended, and I'll be giving you a ring if I'm unlucky enough to have another truck bite the dust 200 miles from home again!
