    200tdi starting issues.

I've got an early 200tdi disco which up untill recently has been faultless and started immediately with or without heat as all myother tdi's have done. It now takes a few seconds of cranking to fire, a situation that seemed to have materialised pretty much over night. Filters are all ok and...

Light weight value and TDi Conversion???

Thanks Blue beasty, thats good to know. It won't really be used for off-roading per se, just pulling a trailer occasionally and ferrying people and dogs around on a farm.

Light weight value and TDi Conversion???

Thanks for that james, I take it you are keeping the series transmission then? I was wondering if it was possible to graft the LT77 in with disco transferbox for relaxed cruising:cool:

Light weight value and TDi Conversion???

Hi I'm looking at buying a lightweight, I think it'll be aseries 3? It's a non runner thats been parked up for a couple of years, it's very tatty but looks all there. Axles look about rotten but it's on a mint galvanised chassis. Any pointers to a rough valuation would be much appreciated. If...

    Steering Wheel Judder

Are the wheels absolutely flush on the hub? I've seen wheels that should fit be held off the hub by a mil or so by the halfshaft securing bolts fouling the inside of the wheel. Taking the spring loaded washers off the halfshaft securing bolts gave enough clearance to allow the wheel to sit...

    Suspension upgrade

Have you got new front turret securing rings with the captive studs? Chances are they'll neck off when you undo them if they're tight and corroded. New ones make stripping it all back down easy if you need to alter something too. New spring securing/retention brackets arent a bad idea too...

Cheapest place for a recon PAS box?

Any Ideas? Seen a few on the 'bay for £235ish, just wondered if there are any DIY options or independant refurbishers out there?

    Kingpin All terrains?

I had some on a 90 and the wear rate was quite poor. In the long run I reckon BFG a/t's would have worked out cheaper. Depends if you're going to keep your truck for 50K though.

Which brake pipe end for a S1 disco?

I've ordered the flaring tool but before I start pulling things to bits I thought I'd ask if anyone knows which brake pipe ends I'll need for a 200 tdi disco. I assume they'll be metric but do they have the shoulder/unthreaded section at the end or are they threaded down their full length? Ta

Anyone got or use a sykes pickavant flaremaster II?

Ordered one of THESE in the end. It's exactly the same as the one I used to use in the garage. The guy at HD tools said that although the flaremaster is a great tool the vice mounted units are stronger and more accurate. It's made by the same british company that make the sykes pickavant tools...

Anyone got or use a sykes pickavant flaremaster II?

The way i look at is I'm relatively young and do a fair bit of messing around with cars and bikes. If I get 30 years of sporadic use out it then £120 aint too bad. I need to make a few lines for the disco and my transit which would cost a canny bit to get done at a garage. Even the...

Anyone got or use a sykes pickavant flaremaster II?

I'm after a brake pipe flaring tool and have a choice of 2. A vice mounted SP 270 or the flaremaster 2. FLAREMASTER It's just for home use, I used to use a 270 on a regular basis when I worked in the trade but the flaremaster looks to be amore versatile tool. Especially as I don't have a...

Tdi Valve clearance adj, do you bother?

I've had a fair few tdi's but have never got round to adjusting the valve clearances as I've never had the vehicles that long. Do you bother checking /adjusting them as per old pushrod petrol motors or do you just leave well alone? I assume if they need adjusting thats because the go out of...

Disco 1 suspension replacement / upgrade

After enquiring on here about britpart supergaz shocks and HD springs and the favourable advice from Paul D I ordered the kit from paddocks the other week before my hols. I got back on Monday and fitted the kit that afternoon. Wow!!! My old disco is transformed from a wobbly box into a decent...

    Britpart super gaz shocks?

Cheers for that Paul. Have you got the name of a retailer for the terra firma springs? I can't find any reference to them on the web. I'm replacing the shocks and springs because they are fecked (read uber wallowy!) and would like something that will give a better ride on the road. At the end of...
