Hi All, Good news - fault turned out to be nothing more than a single faulty HT lead... took it to a friend of my dads, a real old school mechanic guy in his 70's, got a phone call an hour later to say come and get her... £25 later.... job done. Thanks to all for your responses.

once again, thanks for the quick response. when i phoned the dealer to have a moan he did mention something about there being a problem with a weak coil pack in that motor. £40 sound about right for a new one? also, easy to fit? most of my mechanical skills centre around my bike unfortunately...

Hi mate, and cheers for the fast response... i realise i shoulda mentioned it's a petrol.. my mistake..... but fuel filter sounds interesting... guess there's no harm in swapping it out just to cross it off the hopefully not never-ending list of what-if's.... thanks again mate.
