It took me a while to sort out (took ages for the parts to arrive post Brexit) but basically the insulation on the resistor had disintegrated which was causing the problem. I changed all the wiring on the glow plugs because some of the plastic shroud was cracked and got a new resistor and it all...

Hi I’m changing the indicator lights on my Series 3 diesel and there’s an extra brown wire on the new switch. What should it be attached to? There’s also an old pre-existing brown wire on the fuse box which isn’t attached to anything. Where does that come from?

It’s the pigtail types. I changed all of them because I had no idea which was the faulty one. You can’t get the wiring wrong because otherwise the cable ends don’t fit. Thanks for the suggestions - I’ll let you know how I get on.

Hi guys. The first glow plug (the one nearest the bulkhead) blows as soon as I change it. I’ve now changed it twice (the first time I thought I may have bought a faulty one). Any idea of what could be problem and how to solve it?

Solved the issue by rethreading the massive hole and fitted an M8 stud bolt. I had to change nearly all the stud bolts as they were too knackered. The proof of the pudding will be when I add the oil tomorrow
