Fitting Roof Bars and weight worry question- 300tdi

oh - thats a good idea. The box is a 7.5ft long thule thing with loads of lock points so not worried about it flying open. But strapping it so the main roof rails directly is going to hold it really solid though. I'm also going to move it right over to one side against a roof rail - that...

Fitting Roof Bars and weight worry question- 300tdi

So - I fitted the genuine roof bars to the Disco after giving them a spray tidy up. I you are attempting this, I just can't see how you can do it well without taking the whole roof lining out ( I did read a post suggesting bending back the trim but that was asking for major lining damage). It...

Central Locking / alarm sensor issue

yeah - starting to think that as I check more pics. So - maybe easier this way: When you click the keyfob button to open the doors, where is the sensor for it in the car?

Central Locking / alarm sensor issue

So - I've been struggling with this for a while: Stand and press the button on the keyfob while standing a few inches from the car near either driver or passenger door. I get a 1 in 5 best success rate. Sometimes it just won't play ball - lock or unlock. Other keyfob is the same. Have...

How fast do these things go? 300Tdi

Hang on - peak power is 111bhp at 4k rpm right? Anything after that is LESS than 111bhp. You'll be down at 90bhp by 5krpm with the turbo wheesing to keep the flow up. So this is saying that at 5k rpm this chap got 115mph in a 2tonne brick wall car with about 90bhp (best guess)...

    300 TDi Cam belt change

That's a nice link at the start of this thread but is there another guide for JUST doing the belt? (not the tensioners) EDIT: Ignore that - it's flippin obvious and to be fair, I might just do the tensioners anyway now I've re-read the guide. I was under the illusion that I could change...

New to Discovery - some problems!

Yeah - I am used to 90+ in a 350bhp Saab so I will continue to drop the pace and go with the flow. It has good but well worn michelins on the back and some rotten looking over-treaded things on the front. They even squeel on the mildest corners with a little power understeer - horrid! Look...

New to Discovery - some problems!

Good sunroof guide! I can do my roof rails whilst that lot is out too. As for fluids - I'll need to get the whole lot lot done. It's had oil changes but will be on orginal gearbox and axle oil. Gearbox has a touch of a notch into 3rd if I rush it when coldish so new oil always helps a...

New to Discovery - some problems!

Thanks!! Sign of a good forum with answers in minutes!! I havent brimmed the tank since I got back but 1/2 way down was 28mpg but I was very careful with throttle and it was 3hrs without brakes or change of speed. I'll check it again but at least it's not using too much after the sadistic...

New to Discovery - some problems!

So - first time I've owned one and have got a family members one. Unfortunatley it's not been well looked after and has succumbed to salty wet roads in Fife a fair bit. But then that gives me a little refurb project! Anyway - here's my list! 1) Drove it from Edinburgh to London last night...
