I gravity bled the system and re-adjusted the master rod. Hopefully the new clutch plate isn't stuck. I don't know what the pressure should feel like but I definitely feel more pressure as peddle goes down. I can move into all gears when engine is off.

Thanks for your reply. I'll probably go for the scraping option for now followed by a good coating of wax oil. With the intention of doing the proper strip-down job in a couple of years.
