Theres a couple of choices here, change the gearbox oil and add some molyslip to it and check the linkage for wear, or take the gearbox out and have it re conditioned, it will need a flywheel and clutch as well, and maybe a starter while its all off, but no doubt there will be other things -...

Before you do all that replace the mass air flow unit, not with a cheap nasty one either and i think you might be surprised

Its worth having a go with J-B Weld 8265S as that was developed to fill scratches in cylinder bores so its going to hold your bolt in without a problem
