After getting an oil change, I now have to change a wheel bearing

After just over 2 hours, a new wheel bearing is in place, and the ‘whomp-whomp’ noise is gone. Smooth driving now.

After getting an oil change, I now have to change a wheel bearing

I will be using Timken wheel bearing grease. I suspect as to why the bearing failed was the extra lateral forces due to wheel spacers. When I first got the vehicle, the steering was a bit sluggish. Once the spacers were off, a more responsive steering came back. Personally, I think that anything...

After getting an oil change, I now have to change a wheel bearing

Thank you for the information. The ‘3049’ is the bearing, to which I have, and the ‘3011’ is the outer races which I don’t have. I can order just the races. Great that I know this BEFORE having to start work.

    Wheel spacers and wheel bearings

While my ‘97 D1 was up for an oil change (10w30), doing the 6-12 tire pull clearly answered the question as to why I get an on-off rumbling from the passenger front tire. Bad wheel bearing. That being said, my vehicle came with wheel offsets. Happily having sold them, the steering is better and...

Mine was on a sailboat at a regatta. Dranked on one, slept on another to the owners dismay!

After getting the UV dye flashlight and glasses, it was extremely hard to locate the leak. I thought it was the frost plug around the starter. Bring it in to the garage for a better visual check, a pressure test revealed the only pin hole leak at the back corner of the head gasket. When out to...

Bowmore had a Mariner 15 which was really good, but its replacement is a second best. I almost forgot…Highland Park and Jura Superstition if its still around.

That is one of them…Laphroag, Bruchlladich, Bowmore. I think going over, renting a room and an old Series would be the best way in exploring the area and distilleries

Hi Brian. This is my second LR, a ‘97 D1. My first was a ‘01 D2. It met an unfortunate end being at the receiving end of a man woman. A big old Ford Bronco got my front passenger quarter.

About a week ago, both of my sunroofs were stuck open. They could move front and back but not close. Various clues…motor, ecu, stuck safety switch. After removing the top panel behind the mirror, I even cleaned the connections, no luck here. Not bad however for being a ‘97. What you needed was...
