had a similar problem but only in the higher gears. i had the propshaft support bearing changed and that stopped it. have since found out there are always some of these for sale on ebay at much lower price than landrover.

i have a 98 freelander di which has developed a clunk sound when reversing. i have parked it on the flat without the handbrake on, in case the shoes were sticking, but it still does it. ive recently had the rear diff hangers, more bushes than i thought possible and the prop shaft hangers...
