    Billet Aluminium Door Hinges

Hi All, I'm looking to replace the hinges on my TD5; the old ones are corroded and looking a bit naff. I'm thinking a nice set of black billet aluminium ones. The two I'm looking at are Optimill, which are plastic coated, or Exmoor, hard anodised. Does anyone have any experience with the...

    ECU Mapping...

Hi Sierra, Finally got the time to get to my ECU. Here's the numbers... If this is a Disco ECU, can I get a defender map put on or do I need a new ECU?

    ECU Mapping...

Hi All, I think someone before me played with the mapping on my Defender TD5. There's a lot of smoke accelerating at low revs and bugger all power pulling away. Higher up goes well though. As a side bar, the internal light only flash when unlocking the doors. I read this is an ECU fault? My...

    Handbrake Out of Adjustment?

There's some great ideas here, thanks. Never thought of a battery earthing issue! I'll check this out and have a go with the cable. So fsr all I've adjusted is the adjuster on the drum.

    Handbrake Out of Adjustment?

Hi Phill, I can't see any signs of oil, that's not say some isn't creaping in somewhere though. When I pull the handbrake up to does hold, but the slackens off. I wonder if the cable is faiing and stretching? Do you think the disk holds better than the drum or not much in it?

    Handbrake Out of Adjustment?

Hi All, My handbrake isn't behaving. I've adjusted it 3 or 4 times over recent weeks and now the adjuster doesn't give that reassuring click. What's the opinion? Do I just need new pads or is the adjuster knackered? We pull as horse trailer which can easily be 2.2 tonnes. Given weight on a...

    Buying a Defender

Yep, I know it's expensive, but it ticks the right boxes. https://www.autotrader.co.uk/van-details/202108226527758?fromSavedAds=true&advertising-location=at_cars They were happy about a Defender mechanic coming to have a look, which is positive. I'm up in Scotland so difficult to see myself...

    Buying a Defender

Hi All, I've found what looks like a nice defender from UK Custom Land Rovers. Nut and bolt rebuild, galv chassis, nice and shinny. The guy says he will not entertain an AA or RAC check as they don't really understand Landys, create long lists and block up his yard. Is this reasonable?

    Chassis on TDCI

Hi All I'm new to the forum, so please be kind. I'm looking to get rid of my Ford Ranger and get a Landy. I'm thinking of a TDCi or a TD5. I've been told the greatest risk is the chassis. When getting something 10, 15+ years old how worried should I be? Should I look for older with a galv...
