    Defender steering column play

This makes sense. I think this column is ok. Thank you very much, Dag! I was already preparing myself to buy a new one! 💸💸😬

    Defender steering column play

Hmm, yes I see.. The play is indeed lateral only, never rotational. But on those pot holes when cornering it might be transmitting that play to the steering wheel, no? I can feel it on my arms.

    Defender steering column play

Hello everyone I’m trying to kill every steering wobble I can feel on my Defender and I found out this play on the steering column. I think it’s not normal and I’d like to know your opinions (it’s not on the cv joins, it’s right on that rubber area). Please see video attached. Thank you in...

    Td5 braking distribution

As it seems, there’s no repair kits available for master cylinders with abs, only for non-abs systems.. A oem quality new one will cost about 160€ and I’m not sure if the problem is here. Is there any way to test it? (Can’t see any leaks outside and the system is well bleed) Thank you!

    Td5 braking distribution

There’s two lines coming from it, separated front and rear, I guess. I never touched the master cylinder and so I don’t know how’s inside. It makes sense that the problem could be there. I’ll study the internet about what fixes can be made there. Thank you!

    Td5 braking distribution

Hello, my 90 td5, equipped with a non functioning abs at the moment (I’m working on that) is braking WAY more in the rear than in the front, which some times turns dangerous on wet roads. I’ve cleaned the entire abs block and swapped the shuttle valve to a new wabco one, hopping to solve my abs...

    Td5 Head gasket thickness

Hello, guys My 1 hole head gasket has gone; Cylinder head tested and is ok (no cracks). Valves checked and new stem seals fitted; Cylinder head slightly skimmed by a professional, in order to get a perfect surface; Valve seats untouched though; I was told that the next thickness head gasket...

Td5 Air issue in the fuel system

Btw, I'll do the injector seals too, since it they have 390.000km already. Do you recomend looking on anything else when I do this job?

Td5 Air issue in the fuel system

Hello guys Just to let you know that the problem was indeed the fuel pump. The breather was blocked too (easily solved with a shot of air pressure), but it wasn't the bad guy here about the leaking. When I took the pump out, it hadn't the seal instaled!.. So, it would always leak anyway. The...

Td5 Air issue in the fuel system

Thank you brown for the valuable information. I didn't know about such recession on the pump hole! It can explain the leak, as the fuel cap is a cheap one and it doesn't seal well at all, which may clear the eventual breather fault.. Discodevon suggestion about the injectors seals also makes...

Td5 Air issue in the fuel system

Brown I don’t believe it’s the sealing ring of the pump, because even with the diesel level on the last mark (not topped) it leaks. In fact the leak comes somewhere from the top of the tank but also from the fuel cap. The fuel filter is brand new and I’m quite sure it’s properly fitted. Btw...

Td5 Air issue in the fuel system

I hope so, but, honestly, I can't explain completely in what way or the cause/ effect of this episode.

Td5 Air issue in the fuel system

Hello guys Last night my 90 has stopped on the road. I was pushing a bit from the engine and, suddenly, I felt a loss of power and a few seconds before, it turned off. It's very hot around here, in Portugal, this days (don't know if this is relevant). There's no warning lights. Half tank. The...

    Defender td5 10P - no air pressure

Hello, guys New core fitted. Landy runs just the same way, but the little “roar” has gone (maybe due to the new gaskets) and little extra “cricket” sound too. All seems pretty normal now, so, case solved. Thanks for your help!

    Defender td5 10P - no air pressure

The one I ‘ve ordered is a brand new one, but even if it doesn’t come with that warning, I’ll do it anyway. It won’t hurt for sure. Thanks for the tip!

    Defender td5 10P - no air pressure

Good morning Actually I recognise there’s a high risk here and I just order a new turbo core yesterday.. I didn’t came so long on this rebuild to now live with this concern on my head. If I even balanced my propshafts, it really doesn’t make sense to keep with a very probably unbalanced turbo...

    Defender td5 10P - no air pressure

I did. I gave the cartridge a good clean with pressurized brake cleaner (actually connected to an air compressor) to be sure nothing would stay there. There's very obvoius scratches on the exhaust side blades, as image shows, and of course this could cause some amount of unbalance.. Shop...
