    IIA Trigger's broom, almost :)

I did manage to get a replacement block for my rotted out one, courtesy of a mate who stang me for 50 quid. ( if you read this Sam it is appreciated really). Will need a little ream due to cylinder wear. But all in all it is in much better condition than my old one. Let hope the Gods favour me...

    IIA Trigger's broom, almost :)

Very thin in places, but more patches than grannies quilt. Wanted something to see me out though. :)

    IIA Trigger's broom, almost :)

Axel lined up ready for prep before fitting to new chassis. Going to grind the unwanted cups off of the top of the axel, clean the paint off. Am thinking, after a rub down, treat the rust with phosphoric acid to covert it, then paint with a zinc based product to hold back the rot. Change the...

The wife complained I was taking up too much room on the drive so I decided to make a little bit.

Rear springs unbolted and dropped. Nightmare with the bolts on one of the hangers. Then removed rest of exhaust and hangers.

Brake pipe mounting plates (between axel and spring) pretty shot. Have new stainless ones to replace them. The bottom plates are fairly decent. To treat them, then spray with a zinc based paint or to blast then get them galvanized is the question?

Removed U-bolts holding axels to springs. Nuts were badly corroded. Ended up removing with disk cutter.

Axel check straps removed earlier. Just cut this side off as could not be arsed with the faff when I have new straps an bolts (stainless). Rear shocks disconnected top and bottom.

Rear section of break pipe unbolt at fixing locations and removed. Thinking about replacing the copper pipe with stainless on the refit.

Crimped cut and folded brake line. Not too worried about drips as filled with Dot 5 silicone break fluid.

Started with the wings/bonnet off and engine out. Was tilt, so top off (forgot to mention it is an 88") and I took the tub off prior to Christmas. Now taking photos as I progress. Only just started as the parties are now all out the way.

Well here's the intro. Bought my IIA back in 99. Was a bag of nails and manure back then. Had 11 months very suspect MOT back then. Had to do a shed load of patching on the chassis back then to get it through the next one. As I prepped it for another MOT the core plug under the exhaust fell out...
