    Engine Fan

I'm not getting any overheating problems but I notice that whenever I'm parked up (engine not running) my fan is really tight. You can just about turn it with two hands and a good bit of effort. However when the engine is running it spins properly. Just wondered whether this is a normal thing...

    19j worth saving ?

I have a 19j diesel in mine which is my every day car and I don't really feel the need to change it. I think the purist in me would say keep it original 😊

    Heater options

I know it isn't visually the same but you can get some pretty good heaters that plug into the cig lighter these days

What have you done on your 90/110/130 today?

Today I finished replacing my rear shocks and springs - much better 😄

    Rear Shock Bushes / Washers

Thanks both. I think a lot of the time it's having the confidence to do it until you ask someone.

    Rear Shock Bushes / Washers

Thanks for the reply. That seems to be the way the manual suggests as well but I've seen them the other way round too. I think I will stick with this as you say. The bracket is just flat, no cups or anything. I've wire brushed it all and put grease all round, so I should be okay to just put...

    Rear Shock Bushes / Washers

Hi everyone, I'm reading lots of conflicting advice about the position of the washers on the bottom bushes of the rear shocks on my 90. A lot of pictures on here showing how people have them no longer load either. I've attached a picture which is how the manual appears to show them - but then...

    Lansoguard

This is my third year using lanoguard, it's doing a good job for me. I have a galvanised chassis and the first time I sprayed it you could see a patch I'd missed the following year which had a bit of the usual white dust on it. It seems fine everywhere but I think it's good to do the arches...

Why is my painting always ****

Some paints like rustoleum spray cans do take ages to fully set. I remember doing an old Suffolk Punch lawnmower and their paint took a couple of months before it was hardened and unaffected by fuel.

Occasional Stalling / Almost Stalling Changing Down Gears

Thanks both, I got my mum to look and when I started up there was white smoke. Then when I reved it up a cloud of white came out. Checked all the pipes and no sign of fuel on them. Also the injector joins look good. Tomorrow I will check the pump. I'm not sure but I think I can hear a slight...

Why is my painting always ****

Do you have to mix hardener with your paint? If so maybe try putting a lot less in. I've painted quite a few old tractors and parts with pretty good success. Sounds like your prep is right. I usually use the air gun to blow dust away, then degrease spraying onto a rag then wiping - don't spray...

Occasional Stalling / Almost Stalling Changing Down Gears

Only just started happening, if I'm for example approaching a roundabout in 5th and knock it into neutral the engine cuts out. Other times if I'm going from 5th to 3rd or 4th the revs drop and it almost stalls but when my foot comes back up off the clutch it's okay. It's very random and...

What have you done on your 90/110/130 today?

I changed my gearbox oil which was a horrible colour. Put new in and 2nd gear seems much easier to get into.

    255/85 tires - has 2.5TD enough power?

As the title really, I have the chance of some cheapish 255/85 r16 tires and wondered whether it would cause problems on my 2.5TD 90? I currently have 265/75 but with them being 2 inch smaller I'm wondering if I will die through lack of power? Anyone seen or done this? Many thanks!

    Rear Springs Advice

Really grateful for the time everyone has taken to respond, thanks a lot. There's more to it than I initially thought and doing all 4 will definitely be best. I need to look into all the suggestions a bit more but I like the idea of +2 shocks with normal springs to counter any sag. Just to...

    Rear Springs Advice

Thanks for the responses - I think by reading everything I'll be best doing all four springs as a whole as suggested. Been underneath again and definitly can't see anything to identify the rear ones. It's just a normal 90, not a county or anything. I tow an Ifor Williams cattle trailer (small...

    Rear Springs Advice

Thanks both, I'll go for some Britpart ones then. With the ones on now being for a 110 - will they still be the same height? So I won't be sitting lower at the back if I get ones for a 90?

    Rear Springs Advice

(searched but nothing quite matches my query) The rear springs on my 90 have sagged quite a bit now so I want to replace them. Trouble is they're so rusty and flakey I can't see what colour they are. My fronts are yellow/yellow which are Defender 110 springs. I don't want to loose any height so...

    Auxiliary Fusebox

That's really smart. How would you get to the dash from there - along the chassis and up from the engine side or under the carpets inside? Just trying to think how to do it neatly and easily.

    Auxiliary Fusebox

Thanks Brown, so your fusebox is permanently live? I hadn't thought of mounting it behind the seats - was going to mount it on the firewall behind the dash so it was closeby but access is easier behind a seat. I'll take it off the ignition switch then - I've got some piggyback spades. Can you...
