    noisy transmission defender 90

    I have the same issue. No clear culprit even after attempted diagnosis by experienced workshop. Oil in both boxes clean, but replaced anyway. Only whines when power is applied. Could it be the input gear on the transfer box?

    22" wheels do fit, depending on the offset. I have a set of Range Rover wheels (54mmoffset) with 305/45/22 tyres. I had to modify my rear wheelarch slightly to avoid the wheel rubbing when loaded, but other than that, no problems. I have a lowered suspension set-up from JE Engineering. No MOT...

    Power upgrades work a treat, but check with your insurance before you commit. You may end up doubling your premium.

    I run on 305/45/22 tyres with a 1:222 Transfer box. Speedo is 100% accurate as measured against my GPS speed. Engine spins at just under 2,500 RPM for a true 70Mph. Oh, and this is on lowered JE Engineering suspension. Had to modify the rear wheel arch trims a bit to allow sufficient wheel...
