    Good vibrations...or probably not.

Right. You lot are no help to a damsel in distress. But hey I'm going keep on at it, because if I can do this stuff without so much as breaking a finger nail then anyone can. I've dragged the prop shaft off, and that's cured everything. All the noises, and rumblings and stopped it complaining...

    Good vibrations...or probably not.

Now then this 98 Petrol FL1 I’ve got. I’m having issues. It’s started to give me rumbly vibrations that I can feel through the seat. I only get it when I’m slowing down/coasting maybe from 25mph down to about 5mph in gear, out of gear, braking, not braking, braking on engine same difference...

Freelander drivetrain - and it sounds like it...

Booked it into the local garage this week, but took my Dad out for a short drive first. He got the rear passenger footwell and stuck his ear to the floor - he thought it was coming from directly underneath the handbrake - the VCU. Took it to the garage, told them what I knew it wasn't, and...

Freelander drivetrain - and it sounds like it...

I'm a bit worried by this tale of woe. Still can't get the plug out of the IRD for a look, I'm too weak, the floor's hard, and I broke a nail. I'm taking it to a garage next week. Ann

Okay. Now I've got an occassional squeak with it. Something somewhere is drying out... Can't get the IRD filler thing out to have a look in there. Want to poke around in the CVs....how the hell do you get those rubber things off anyway.

Suppose I should ask you, Mr Mackd0001 how long you had a noise before things went horibly wrong?

Freelander drivetrain - and it sounds like it...

This sounds a bit like a wheel bearing but it's too quick. There's nothing wearing anything, props are clear of everything, rear diff mounts still looking okay. And my tyres are fine - nothing going on there. I've had every wheel up in the air and tried to waggle them about and there's no play...

Freelander drivetrain - and it sounds like it...

Thought I'd have to take the 2 drive shafts off the back wheels to eliminate the diff.

It does it in & out of everything neutral included, whether the engine is on or off. Whatever it is it's after the gearbox. It's a petrol.

Freelander drivetrain - and it sounds like it...

Right then I have a 98 Freelander. Love it to bits. However, last week it started making a noise. It sounds like a very very quiet steam train. It's not loud. I thought I’d caught something on the prop shaft initially like a twig or a cat maybe, but there’s no debris under there. Checked the...
