    Engine shot on 2.5 V6 after 31k????

    Try Rick at RM Motors in Rushden. Really knows his stuff, and is usually up to his ears in work, which probably explains why he too doesn't usually touch the 2.5! But as its a new motor rather than an iffy rebuild he might be happy to give it a go. Jon

    Noisy Diesel Pump!!

    This may be a red herring, but when my TD5 fuel pump started getting noisy, a new fuel filter got things back to normal. It was obviously labouring a bit! A much cheaper fix than a new pump.

    Whats it worth?

    Dealers would probably look for abt £3k, I'd be inclined to ask £2500, and treat anything over 2k as a win. Good luck with it!

    Whats with the different ratios?

    The Ashcroft transmissions site suggests that the reason for VCU seizure is down to an excessive difference in ratios between the ird and the rear diff. And that later models improved matters. In fact I was about to ask when exactly this happened. Maybe thats what we are seeing here? Jon

    battery problem???????????

    Had something similar with my old 200tdi. Turned out to be corrosion in the terminal of the power cable at the starter motor end. Battery was fine but too much resistance in the system! A cheap fix for once. Regards Jon

    A late answer, but my excuse is that I've only just registered on the site. If the problem is that the engine revs don't drop, or even rise, when you lift off to change gear the problem could be with the clutch switch. This widget is part of the clutch hydraulics and lives on the r/h inner...
