    D2 sls compressor not running

New pump and FL9 fitted. Compressor wouldn't run. Pressed the off-road switch and it burst into life and pumped the rear up. Not sure why it needed the off-road switch to work? I'm hoping everything is sorted now and that the standard height wil be maintained automatically. Thanks to all for...

P38A EAS compressor running almost continuously

Many thanks brianp38dse, kermit_rr, Datatek and rrdude for those helpful replies. Not had time to try anything yet but hopefully will do so in the next few days. Cheers, and thanks again 👍

P38A EAS compressor running almost continuously

Hello, My EAS compressor is running well over half the time I'm driving which I'm sure is not correct. Whenever I slow down I can hear it. If I remove the relay under the passenger seat it's several days before the suspension starts to sink so I guess that there are no major air leaks. With...

    D2 sls compressor not running

Hi sierrafery, many thanks for your reply. Yesterday, at last, I had time to look again at the air suspension and your suggestions. I found a blown fusible link FL9 caused by a siezed air compressor. Now sorting both these issues. My request for more information on the fault codes, and the...

    D2 sls compressor not running

Can anyone suggest where I might find what these code mean, the words are rubbish to me! Error codes (from Hawkeye Total): 4153 - Compressor (Power amp with electrical connector interrupted) 4167 - Event ON-duration compressor I believe that these faults might be stopping the suspension...

    D2 sls compressor not running

Thanks for your reply sierrafery. Oops, apologies for not including error code description, makes sense to include them! code 4153 - Compressor (Power amp with electrical connector interrupted) code 4167 - Event ON-duration compressor And yes, the relay I'm looking at is R5 under the bonnet...

    D2 sls compressor not running

Hello, may I ask for help from greater brains than mine please. After 2 months of not driving, the sls compressor on my Discovery 2 is not running. Error codes 4153 - Compressor (Power amp with electrical connector interrupted) and 4167 - Event ON-duration compressor Tested with a...

Disco 2 Lining up torque converter holes with engine plate

I think I can just touch the torque converter disc through the small, circular inspection cover at the bottom of the bell housing. The previous person who had the engine out must have struggled with the bolts clamping the engine back plate tp the torque converter - there were two at the bottom...

Disco 2 Lining up torque converter holes with engine plate

Hi All, I'm replacing the TD5 engine on my Discovery 2. When fitting the new engine, any suggestions on lining up the bolt holes in the torque converter with the triangular p[late on ther rear of the engine? I can see it's going to be tricky feeding the bolts through the starter motor hole...

Disco 2 No accelerator for 15 seconds after starting from cold

Got it. Perfect. So I can look for a 15P from either a Discovery or Defender, connect it to my ECU and all should work so long as I either enter the codes from the new injectors into my ECU or fit the injectors from my old engine, in the same order, into the new engine. I can cope with that...

Disco 2 No accelerator for 15 seconds after starting from cold

Thanks for that contact Griff, have spoken to him and he has nothing but will ask around. Sierrafery, thanks for that suggestion. It looks promising but is from a Defender. I know the engines are the same but I believe the ECU maps are different, fuel pressure is different and the temperature...

Disco 2 No accelerator for 15 seconds after starting from cold

No good news! I believe that my engine has been run without oil!. Injector cam followers are siezed solid and warn flat. Camshaft injector cams are very grooved and the bearings are a real mess. This means a new head, rocker assembly and camshaft and no reason that I know of for this problem...

Disco 2 No accelerator for 15 seconds after starting from cold

Mmmmm , it seems that no accelerator when starting may be the least of my problems. I'm part way through removing the injectors and have found that the rollers on four of the five injector rockers are completely seized and now have flat sections warn in them. The corresponding cams on the cam...

Disco 2 No accelerator for 15 seconds after starting from cold

Now that's a good idea - I'm sure I have narrow tube lying around somewhere. For now, I think I'll remove the injectors and replace the copper washers and 0-rings and see if that helps with the engine running. If not, I'll probably have the injectors tested then at least I'll know that the...

P38A Pressing the accelerator slows the engine

Good idea Mark, I'll look at all the live data and make a note of what's happening. Many thanks for all your help, and also many thanks to all who gave me their ideas - I know a lot more about eror codes and live data than a week ore tow ago. :) Cheers, Bertie

P38A Pressing the accelerator slows the engine

Sounds interesting, any idea of the title? A new carer is what I want, but when talking to mechanics a fraction of my age I feel as though I've been left a long way behind. Carburettors and 1960s tractors (with no electronics) are more my thing. :)

Disco 2 No accelerator for 15 seconds after starting from cold

Ah, could be a red herring then. It wasn't me who filled it so I don't really know, and the oil doesn't seem to smell of diesel.

Disco 2 No accelerator for 15 seconds after starting from cold

Hi sierafery, thanks for your speedy reply. I can certainly change the o-rings and copper washers but I'm unsure about the injector timing. Is that the timing chain? I can line the sprocket mark between the two coloured links in the timing chain but can't see the crankshaft sprocket marks...

Disco 2 No accelerator for 15 seconds after starting from cold

Hello, have managed to get back to this troublesome engine - no accelerator for 15 seconds or so after being left overnight, and engine runs roughly - especially around 1500rpm. 1) Swapping the MAF sensor for a known good one made no difference. 2) Fitting a new crank sensor made no difference...

P38A Pressing the accelerator slows the engine

Update - I fitted a new MAF sensor yesterday and after a couple of short drives (5 miles and 10 miles) no errors have been logged. The engine is also running better than it has for a long time. I'm hoping that this has solved the issue - do you think I'm right to be optimistic? I don't know...
