L322 4.2 SC Cranks but No Start

Apparently what happened is that the owner of the older business died and the mechanics that were working for him formed their own business as the deceased did not leave anyone to continue to run it. I can't find anything factually against the business and there has been no pressure applied to...

L322 4.2 SC Cranks but No Start

Hi Dave, what are you suggesting I dig for on the engine? I know it has serious compression problems on 4 cylinders and I would need to remove the heads to dig deeper but if I do that I may as well do the job myself. I am quite capable if I can find a manual to guide me and gain access to the...

L322 4.2 SC Cranks but No Start

Thanks gold rover and Saint.V8, I didn't think of Companies House, I searched online for any forum type comments of complaint. I think I'll have a word with the AA tomorrow see if they can throw any light on them.

L322 4.2 SC Cranks but No Start

OK, firstly an apology for the delay in getting back onto this thread especially to those who have offered help. Well, after a bit of digging around in both the car and the industry here's my latest report ... Oh SH1T! :( Let me expand on that summary. The compression tester arrived so...

Sorry Dave but don't understand your last post! :( And I'm quite keen on the PDF of the manual as you will gather from my next post! :)

    L322 4.2 2006 ... How to connect a remote starter button

Hi Rob and thanks for the offer. I just tried to PM you ("Start a Conversation", is that what they call a PM here?) with my email but it advised me I couldn't start a convo with you! Do you need to start it? If so please do. :)

    L322 4.2 2006 ... How to connect a remote starter button

Yep thanks Wammers, I understand that's how it can be done but I was assuming the relay would be more accessible than the solenoid ... are you saying there is no relay contrary to the manual I have?

    L322 4.2 2006 ... How to connect a remote starter button

In the end I just did them one at a time with me running between the lazy start and the engine! :) I will try a process of elimination on all visible/unidentified relays and if that fails maybe I will wire in a slave relay and tuck it away somewhere.

    L322 4.2 2006 ... How to connect a remote starter button

:D:D:D ... I could do that or use the lazy start and quickly run around to the front of the car :) But I still don't know if I have a starter motor relay and if so where it is! I should have one according to the manuals and it would be nice to know just in case I need to know someday! Maybe...

L322 4.2 SC Cranks but No Start

I'm in Heathfield, East Sussex. Thanks for the input. I'll check out the GAP and exploded parts diagrams. Yes would love a copy of the manual thanks ... how do we do that, can I give an email address in some form of private message?

    L322 4.2 2006 ... How to connect a remote starter button

Yes Adam, after 55 years with car engines I already knew that trick but how can I see if a spark plug is firing while sitting in the car? :)

    L322 4.2 2006 ... How to connect a remote starter button

Hi all, I'm lead to believe the V8's have a starter relay that you can jump using a remote starter button to help with tasks such as using a compression tester. I have the diagram for it's location behind the battery ... But it's not there! ... The yellow box is the wipers as per the diagram...

L322 4.2 SC Cranks but No Start

An addendum to my last car post (not the 'grumpy' ones! :D). I thought I would investigate the coil connections and my apologies if this is widely known but I found it interesting. Firstly let's orientate ourselves. I will refer to the terminals on the coil from left to right as you hold the...

L322 4.2 SC Cranks but No Start

I have only read your comments on the post/thread I linked you to which don't seem to be that intensive ... give me a link to your main thread on the subject for me to look at, maybe life will become clearer. And don't worry about being grumpy, I'm old enough and ugly enough to outgrump anyone...

L322 4.2 SC Cranks but No Start

I'm new to the forum ... why are you so grumpy?! I simply pointed out that there is no common consensus to what is the correct battery for an L322 4.2 and gave the sources for my opinion and commented that you (seemed to) have an 020. Can't see why you should be grumpy to me, I'm not the cause...

L322 4.2 SC Cranks but No Start

OK, latest update (and my very grateful thanks to all for your continued interest, it's becoming a bit like a book! :) ). The battery arrived yesterday after a problem with the courier which was resolved courteously and immediately when I emailed the CEO ... I can appreciate a parcel being...

L322 4.2 SC Cranks but No Start

Sorry GoldR but I did say "preferred/current battery" because in the thread you did say ... "My battery is 190mmx393mmx175mm" which is the size of an 020, my apologies if I was presumptive. Why are you reminded of not helping with battery issues ... the subject is not clear and we should all be...

Yep had terrible trouble with No. 3 and eventually hit on the rubber tube thought and luckily had the right size.

L322 4.2 SC Cranks but No Start

OK, while waiting for the new new battery and the Easy-Start to arrive (no shops nearby) I thought I would take a plug or two out and have a look. What a palaver! My plug socket doesn't grip the plug tight enough to pull it up, the long nose pliers are not long nosed enough so I resorted to a...

L322 4.2 SC Cranks but No Start

Thanks GoldRover but there is some doubt as to what is the 'correct battery'! I have been sold a battery that was claimed by the supplier (and many other suppliers) to be correct but now appears to be under-powered (Type: 019 82Ah CCA 720A). Other suppliers claim the Type:020 is the correct...
