  1. Barney’s Landy

    110 USW campervan

Finally l took some photos of one of the key areas of the campervan build, the installation of the LPG underslung gas tank. I didn’t fit the item myself preferring to have it fitted professionally, but it least it was guaranteed and certified. When l installed the Propex gas heater l also...

Thank you. Yes l might go through all of my receipts and work it out, although l will be tad nervous. I might scare myself.

    110 USW campervan

After a long gap of not doing much on the car (l was told l had to work on the house). It now time for some updates. I had a small table top made out of stainless sheet metal, quite simple but with two small dome headed bolts positioned along one edge of the top, two springs were placed over...

Looking great! Your build is inspiring me to think about another Defender project, for the future.

More photographs, but showing the awning all closed up. I think it looks now like a normal roof rack.

Both, the rail is aluminium, with stainless steel gutter fixing brackets. Fantastic quality, made by some quality engineers.:)
  7. Barney’s Landy

    110 USW campervan

On one of my visits to a Land Rover show a few years ago l noticed a must have item for any campervan/overlander. A 270 degree awning, the only problem is they are normally mounted on the roof rack and because of the Pop Top this was not possible. The only option was to have a Halo rail made. (l...

    110 USW campervan

After looking through some old posts l found the photograph of the test units. They weren’t too far off. A vital part of the design process.;)

Fitted cabinets. The silver cap on the front of the cabinet belongs to the water inlet. Brackets for the side table

Thank you for your kind comments. It’s great to know that it will hopefully help you with your build. If you want to know anything, feel free to ask ;). This is my first build, but has generally gone okay, not much l would change, or add. I did encounter problems sourcing out the quality...

    79 109 hartop camper build .

Looks great, and will suit the age of the vehicle. It’s almost a combination of a roof tent and Pop-Up roof. Are you fabricating it yourself, or have you found a used roof?

Fantastic progress, looking forward to the rest of the build.

Issues with my MAF sensor and engine management light, so l have been side tracked for the last few weeks. Plenty of car tinkering going on. A massive update to the car coming shortly. But in the meantime... Replaced the intercooler and added some silicone pipes. New compared to old. While l...

The electrics continues... With the main electrical unit out of the car l internally measured up the inside of the cabinet. I used those dimensions dimensions to cut some 9 mm MDF panels, these were bolted through the sides. The panels are a perfect way to fix all of the electrics. The gas...

    110 USW campervan

Small update. I received the new rear stainless steel threshold months ago, but finally l have found some time to fit it. I used the old bashed up one as a template for the new, it’s wider and deeper, but now it covers up the edge of the 15 mm ply. New rubber as well. The trickiest part was...

Looking forward to seeing your ideas with the camper, but in the meantime good luck with the chassis refurb.:)

Onto the worktops! I ordered the solid oak worktop in one length and then cut it up into three. Kitchen units when l have fitted them in the past l give a overhang of 20 mm, but because the units are much smaller l thought 15 mm was ample. A small bevel was added to the leading edge. The...

    DORIS the td5 110

    Sounds like a win win.

I secured the main sink unit using the same two bolts l used for the fixing of the water tank. The water pipe sections were cut and glued into position. The pump can be seen on the left, with it’s 12 V wiring and water outlet tube. Some more spaghetti! All secured. The next cabinet to...
