To avoid paying for a 3rd Mot, I fitted a separate switch anyway. Since cutting lumber support, no more fuse blowing . Next time I have the seat out, I will reconnect original seat base wiring (removing my switch)

Thanks. Looking at the wiring diagram, the only unswitched live that is hidden in the seat is (as you say) for the lumber support. As the fuse is blowing without the seat being moved and the visible wiring is not damaged ‐ it seems very likely this is the problem.

Car is near Bristol. I have all I need to do this job (other than the advice you guys have kindly given). If I keep it and hit a problem - I would certainly ask for paid assistance or suitable garage.
