    Update. I didn't have any IPA to hand so I used some good stong gin on the lens instead. Not much difference really it just doesn't evaporate as quickly.     Thank you for your reply. I just find it very strange as the car is a UK model so the system should be set for region 2. I'll keep digging, I'm determined to get the thing working.
