A few photos of the inlet manifold clean up. Went well although I knocked the side repeater off and snapped the tang off it. Road test tomorrow on the way to work.

Popped off inlet manifold to clean the accumulated gunk after an EGR delete. Left it to soak and now having a beer. Finish off tomorrow.

For me, it's a manual. I have a 1999 D2 TD5 with a manual box. Easier to change the fluid for starters and a lot easier to work on if it packs a sad. Mine has 280,000km on it and apart from a squeaky spigot bearing when cold (not really a gearbox issue) it's strong. First and second a little...

Other what have u done on ur disco today

Nearside indicator repeater fell out today. Double sided sticky temp fix whilst I order a pair. Spring pinged off of the coin tray as well. No idea where that went, probably inside the transmission tunnel trim. KFC tea keeps upping the cabin temp whenever i pick the cup up or put it back in cup...

Disco 2 New owner and oil leak straight away

Just a thought, the Air Con condensate drain leaves a bit of a mess. Maybe adding to the mix?

    Swan neck tow ball 50mm

Any idea where I can get hold of a 50mm swan neck for my D2 7 seat. For some reason NZ has two sizes, 1 7/8" and 50mm. Just after one i can keep in the wagon and swap when needed. There must be a reason for the two sizes, but it makes no sense to me. All our work utes are 50mm, most private...

Yep, they are very stable with a wide square base. Each rated to 2000kg. Got them from Supercheap Auto.in NZ. Definitely want to keep ontop of any corrosion. My welding skills are crap.

Very clean under there. The difference unsalted roads make to a vehicle. Going to flood everything with lanolin based gloop. Should keep her rust free for a while yet.

What wax oil for chassis care

Blimey, at least Turpin used to wear a mask. I just paid $120 New Zealand for a 4 litre tin of the heavy grade enduro. Thats about 60 quid. It can't cost too much to ship in bulk. Missed opportunity I think, pricing it out of a new market like that. Really good stuff, I've used Dinitrol, ACF...

    D2 TD5 UK version?

Really appreciate the help gents. Great forum and wisdom distilled within. It has finally stopped raining and I have a day before the next front rolls in across the Tasman. I agree re: Haynes. I looked at a sample of a new manual compared to my old 80s ones and its as if intelligence and...

What wax oil for chassis care

Prolan lanolin based wax. We use it all the time in rural NZ. Wards off cow shizer and fertiliser slurry (incredibly corrosive) and smells nice (if you like sheep). Environmentally sound and great on leather boots.

    D2 TD5 UK version?

I'm struggling to find a workshop manual for my 99 D2 Td5. They all seem to be for the US market and light on TD5 detail. I've tried a search for LRL0549ENG, but keep getting dead links. Any ideas?

Hello all, Just joined the forum after purchasing my Discovery 2 TD5. Had a few of the marque over the years including, three Series 3 2/4 petrols, one of which I converted to a V8, a 3.9 V8 RR and now my new to me Discovery. Looking forward to some tinkering and exploring New Zealand a bit...
