What have you done to your Freelander today

You're not alone. But I like to remember that I've had way more good days than bad. Plus, it's dangerous to think of 'expensive bills'. Try, 'exciting challenges'. ;)

    New Defender

Seen the mythical beast in Strensham Services. It had swallowed a family. It didn't look like they were appreciating all those ECUs. I didn't see a pig.

Freelander 1 Clutch replacement how much.

That's the 'king spirit! Looked freezing as well!

Freelander 1 Clutch replacement how much.

I'd say that's reasonable considering what's involved in getting the gearbox out. Drive shafts out, IRD out, wishbones off, subframe off, drop engine, remove engine mount, finally pull the gearbox. Then replacing everything inc. clutch bleed. Lots of work and will take a garage best part of a...

Freelander 1 1.8 petrol thermostat on TD4 - Insane in the membrane?

Oh, it's an adventure alright, hence my reluctance. That's useful to know. Good tip on fitting normal bolts. Looking more and more like that's the solution. Just had the other one knocking about and thought someone else had considered such muppetry. :) Thanks for the reply.

Freelander 1 1.8 petrol thermostat on TD4 - Insane in the membrane?

Our themostat has been stuck open for some time and we've grown used to all that implies. Coolant never getting to temperature, weak cabin heater, etc. Want it rectified but seems to be a bugger of a job to replace the existing one on a TD4. I mean, who has a set of ratcheting torx spanners...

What have you done to your Freelander today

Apparently so. But, judging by the state of the lifts, they've been turning a blind eye to proper workshop equipment inspection and safety for some time o_O

What have you done to your Freelander today

That's a decent tester indeed! Our van failed on the handbrake recently as it had been stood for 2 months (handbrake left off but discs were rusty). The chap at the garage kindly offered to drive it around for a bit whilst dragging the handbrake. Worked a treat as nothing else was needed to gain...

Freelander 2 (LR2) unstable tick over - somtimes

Only when the vehicle in question was entirely out of fuel. Did you keep the old injectors? Are the new ones clean? I'd be doing a leak off test comparing all the units before considering anything else.

Good fer you, chap. Might want to start a 'Self Portraits' thread in Anything goes, though :p

What have you done to your Freelander today

Missed this one, Ian. The hippo is a step down from a Skoda Yeti, indeed. Spent most of last year moving RR Evoques et al about the place. Now I'm convinced I can get a FL1 TD4 to drive like that. It's a sickness  Have you gone and bought all the bits for 4WD, then? Exciting! (?)...

What have you done to your Freelander today

Bugger. I hope you're still laughing though, dude ;) Might be a bit late for advice given your expiry is tomorrow, but... Pull the drums off again. Do what everyone else says and free/strip/clean the lot. Also take some course grit sandpaper to the shoes. Drums back on. Slacken the cable at...

What have you done to your Freelander today

Gave it a new air filter and pollen filter. Then took for a 300 mile drive.

    Project: The impossible utopia - Freelander S TD4 3 door (2002)

Break down again this week... Sometimes I wonder if posting this rubbish is affecting the hippo's reputation for reliability. LP fuel pump very growly on Monday morning. Drove to work and back anyway. Still growly Tuesday morning but drove to work anyway. Hit one of the larger hills on me route...

Perhaps its just the universe telling you not to buy any more Freelanders at the minute ;)

I bet they always had the size and brand of tyre you were after too.

What have you done to your Freelander today

Replaced low pressure fuel pump outside work. It was quite noisy Monday morning. Stopped entirely by Tuesday lunchtime. Fortunately, just leaving me stranded in a car park. Glad I've had that assembly out recently, though. Only took an hour including a test drive.

    Wheel adapters

Send 'em back and get ones that fit. Too many potential problems as described above. You have no guarantee of quality even if you buy the expensive adapters and these things can be a serious weak link. Hence the insurance companies outlook. They're also acting as spacers which causes extra load...

    Project: The impossible utopia - Freelander S TD4 3 door (2002)

It is a factory hole technically. For an arch liner clip or 'scrivet' as the parts lady called it. Want to patch it to regain the 8mm hole needed to secure the liner again.
