Your battery sounds a bit small. I have a VARTA 60038 - which is over 100Ah. Prior to that I had a "Type 643" - which was a 95Ah battery. Also, check the output voltage on your alternator with a volt meter. It could be that the regulator's giving notice.

I'm 6'6". My solution was to remove the seats and drill holes 1" further back. I then cut through the lip behind the seats and made up a bracket using 2" angle iron that that the back of the seat bolts into. This was in the days before Mud Rails...
