It's not a big job to replace the arm, or the track rod ends - they just screw/clamp on. But the rubbers themselves can be replaced if the track rod ends are in good nick, only few pence in parts but a little bit fiddly.

Didn’t need to jack - there should be plenty of space without doing so if you do need to get in from below. I didn’t take injector pipes off, but that would give more space and easy to do - shouldn’t need any adjustment to the pump after, although might just need to prime/bleed if air gets in.

The starter relay and heated windscreen relay are labelled the wrong way around on mine too (‘99 300tdi). Spent hours trying to fault-find after I had replaced relays according to the fuse box sticker and unsurprisingly couldn’t get it to start… was happy when I figured it out though!
