    300TDI Gearbox or Transferbox

Got the clutch replaced and learned dodgy non landy garage fitted it without the clip on the slace cylinder and some bracket other way around! The sound still persists and seems to be more than before incl hearing it when parked in neutral. Press clutch pedal and quiet. Been gathering quote from...

    300TDI Gearbox or Transferbox

Yes that is a option. Had the Landy for 10+ years and only needed recovery once. And only because I didn't know it as well as do today. The stop solenoid 12v was missing from alarm.

    300TDI Gearbox or Transferbox

Didn't try that yet, good suggestions and will do it. Did notice during engine on in neutral and keeping revs stable above idle can hear sound very quietly. When dipping clutch its quiet. So something is loose or shaking. Garage said sound comes from front of gearbox. Thinking now it could be...

    300TDI Gearbox or Transferbox

If had the extra money would certainly go for what you are saying Good reminder about the Clutch cylinders as the shaft in the slave cylinder came out during the refit. Bought a spare set as a backup. Will get them changed at same time of the gearbox

    300TDI Gearbox or Transferbox

Agree what Mr Chaffey is the ideal option to go for when winning the lottery(Along with a galvanised chassis) Clutch was replaced with a LOF unit in April this year. Propshafts feels solid and I grease regularely + carry 2 UJ's in my spares box. Very tempting to go for both reconditioned...

    300TDI Gearbox or Transferbox

Yes abit of filings seems to be normal Just collected it from garage and spoke to mechanic and they had it running on 2 post lift and could hear the sound from front of gearbox. Seems to rule out transferbox. Suggested to change out both with 2nd hand units. Would much prefer a reconditioned...

Hi When 300TDI Defender a soft grinding sound is coming from the transmission tunnel, gearstick area. Its specially noticeable in 3rd gear coasting downhill at 30mph. Aye Cheers We do normally roam in doric country, with more seagulls than humans. This time more twisty roads and hills to get thru the borders area. With the trailer on the back it was drinking fuel

    Wheel PCD on series

Could do it indeed, My bottle jack doesn't go low enough to clear under the axle with a wheel off. Could kick it to get it out. Maybe run as single axle. Been searching non stop online and found a garage in 35mins drive that has rims for sale for £50. Thou their landline doesn't seem to work...

    Wheel PCD on series

Seems my measurements are abit off. Compared the PCD on my 97 Defender and they are same as the trailer. So whatever rim the garage sold me is not a Land Rover size

    Epson Printer via inverter

With the CTEK indicator you are sorted. You will learn the setup when using it, and see how long it can run before need to turn engine on. If with other vehicles can always get a jumpstart if need. Or get a solar panel on the roof or a portable one for on the ground. A 100w kit from respectable...
