What’s those strips with a hole-tooth-hole tooth like a band? You crimp them around at desired length then cut off excess, similar idea to what’s on a P38 hub cv boot? You drop tested your battery lately (post winter). Could be phantoms?- RangeRoller dt

My washers wouldn’t come off but injectors were out quite few times with no issues or new washers. They’re supposed to be annealed cherry red. Maybe when the engine is toasty try a retorque ?- RangeRoller dt

P38A What can kill a battery?
If it’s a diesel sounds like you have the original voltage regulator. Modern batteries require 14.4 set point. Original was 13.somesuch for old lead acid type. This is - by the way - information. They take a little to get them in shape but are good and sturdy. Most things can be diy’d with a hammer and a read through RAVE, if you’ve had classics and discos you should be fine - the electrics/eas will be mind boggling at first but easy enough when you are used to it.
