    Replacing P38 Door lock Barrel

Thanks for this info, I know it was several years ago but really helped me after a numpty of a mechanic broke the little plate on the back of the lock (told me it had rusted, nope just snapped). He suggested a scrap handle with a separate key but didn’t want that and wondered if it would cause...

Help electrical chaos & every warning sounding after battery disconnected for a while

Thanks for advice. Is there an easy way to clean the fuel lines? Will pumping clean diesel through do the job or do I need to be using some sort of fuel cleaner? Cheers

Help electrical chaos & every warning sounding after battery disconnected for a while

Nope not a real doctor but this is the timeline of events. 1. Radiator blew (car running fine prior to this and used daily no time for bacteria to grow) 2. Get car home topping up radiator with water, couple of miles, (in hindsight should probably have got it towed but was up a small...

What to replace with the engine out?

Are you suggesting putting a new gear box in or just a oil and filter service? I'd rather wait till it goes as after forking out for engine and labour to fit it I'm a little broke. I've got a couple of spare oil pipes (ones that run to and from the oil cooler) that I was going to stick on...

Help electrical chaos & every warning sounding after battery disconnected for a while

No the rough running happened just after the radiator blew. I suspect that after I put a new radiator on and was bleeding it, it overheated and something broke. By rough running I mean it sounds like I dropped a load of spanners inside, it also has no power, it could only make it part way up...

What to replace with the engine out?

So I'm replacing the engine in my 2000 DHSE (172k miles) after an overheating/ blown radiator issue that has probably cracked/broken something deep inside (as its running like a bag of scanners and belching out black smoke). So my question is this with the engine out what is worth replacing...

Help electrical chaos & every warning sounding after battery disconnected for a while

Cheers for the heads up Lowfat, tried it several times with key in first and nothing happened and still had key code lockout warning but then was playing with 10amp fuse in position 11 (had left key in) to check the transfer neutral worked in case it needed to be towed and when turned key on the...

Help electrical chaos & every warning sounding after battery disconnected for a while

Strange that central locking no longer works on key fob or by turning the key when the new battery was put on. Wonder if that is why it won't accept the keycode? Going to try again tomorrow and then arrange for recovery to take it to the garage and let them unlock with the computer.

Help electrical chaos & every warning sounding after battery disconnected for a while

Needed one now so Halfords one will have to do. Right new battery cleared all the gibberish warnings but has given me a new problem in the form of keycode lock out. I've got the code and tried to enter it but it doesn't seem to recognise the fact I'm turning the key, doesn't go into any...

Help electrical chaos & every warning sounding after battery disconnected for a while

Cheers, do you think it'll just them clearing using testbook (or whatever its called) or more actual work? Guess I'll need to tow it off the drive , fingers crossed the fuse works. The battery was down to 6v so charging it up, currently at 12.16v, however just been to test it and the...

Help electrical chaos & every warning sounding after battery disconnected for a while

Need some help please guys Range Rover (2000) been off the road since Sept after head gasket or engine cracked or something. Anyway sourced an engine to put in it and was getting ready to have it taken to friend's garage to be done. The battery went dead quite soon after it was off the...

    Any ideas what has happend?

Well had a mate who's a landy mechanic look over it and test all the obvious things, he can't see anything that would cause it and thinks the issue is either head gasket or something not happy between a couple of the injectors where it's got hot. He thinks the best plan is to stick a new...

    Any ideas what has happend?

Cheers, Battery nice and tightly done up so I'll check the fuse box first if the god forsaken rain ever stops I'll have a look. Was going to try and buy a sniff kit to test but didn't realise the cost. Don't recovery people carry sniff tests, could always call them out to test it for free...

    Any ideas what has happend?

I don't think so but not 100% sure where they would be. Just did mechanical things, apart from moving the ECM when I moved the battery box but just lifted it out and moved to one side, didn't unplug anything? Could I have done it by accident?

    Any ideas what has happend?

Right, car was running fine then last week the radiator split (plastic on the top) while out. Got it home (and drove fine on way home, just left the header tank cap off to ease the pressure) and ordered a new radiator which I fitted today. In order to fit it I removed the battery box...

Anyone in North Somerset or Bristol with a viscous fan removal tool I could borrow?

Wasn't working and had to do today so took the intercooler and engine oil cooler off and there was enough space to get it out.

Anyone in North Somerset or Bristol with a viscous fan removal tool I could borrow?

Hi all Having a nightmare trying to replace the radiator just because I have to remove the pigging viscous fan. Tried stuffing rags in the pulley, bent a spanner but the bloody thing isn't moving. It's a diesel with a left hand thread and I'm bashing it clockwise (which is the same way the...
