Did you pull the axles/fluid out too?

    Trailing arm bracket issue

Looks like YRM have the right part and can ship to the US, so thanks for the tip. Obviously I am getting a pair, the right side doesn't look anywhere near as bad but seems like a good thing to do in pairs. Presumably this isn't going to be as easy as just grinding off the old and welding on...

    Trailing arm bracket issue

Issues coming few and far between at the moment! Just fixed my starter motor issue and now this lol. Basically I hit a very small bump and then it appears my very rusty trailing arm mount on the rear end gave up. I'm in the states, which makes this probably a little harder. But I'm wondering...

Dodgy 200tdi starter - repair or replace (USA)

So I just checked mine and it's the same - I found the Valeo brand on it. I am thinking maybe just tracking down a new solenoid for the Valeo and just swap that out?

I'm not familiar with Wasp, do you have a link?

Dodgy 200tdi starter - repair or replace (USA)

That was my next question, how can I tell? It looks like a Valeo based on the solenoid design and that it has the two long studs that go through the starter casing to hold it in place. The armature and piston that controls the pinion position moves nice and easy and I'm wondering whether just a...

Dodgy 200tdi starter - repair or replace (USA)

So this is my question really. The starter is out already and partially stripped (just took the solenoid off so I could check that out). My preference would be to send it out but does anyone know of a company that works on these?

Dodgy 200tdi starter - repair or replace (USA)

Hey guys, I'm in CT, so keep that in mind! Starter has an intermittent issue where it will spin up and crank the motor but sometimes the pinion will disengage while still spinning. I have always got it to start but it just takes a few goes sometimes. Especially when it's cooler out. Now it's...

    replacing downpipe 200tdi defender

Haha I think removing the front crossmember seems to be the easiest option so far!!

    replacing downpipe 200tdi defender

It's absolutely fine at the turbo end. It's where I bolting my intermediate pipe to it. The old intermediate pipe that came off basically moulded itself to the end of the front pipe and made the end face really varied. So when I just can't get a good seal all the way around the joint.

    replacing downpipe 200tdi defender

Haha I will be shocked if there is no rust.

    Ok good tip, thanks!

    replacing downpipe 200tdi defender

Hey guys I am waking this thread back up if that's ok! I just replaced the exhaust from the front pipe back but the front pipe face was so... unique... that it's not making a good seal. I tried a bit of wiggling just to test if I could contort it out but no luck. So regarding this front cross...

    Defender 90 - 200TDi losing power

It's been a while, so I thought I would post an update. Since removing the solenoid, I have put plenty of miles on the Land Rover with no issues - even some really cold temp days and some longer drives. So I believe I can put this one to bed for now! Only thing I want to do is chase the cables...

    Defender 90 - 200TDi losing power

Welp... I took that POS out, and she is running great now. I will report back but that solenoid must have had an iffy connection because it did close without power, but it was more like a governor than a true shut off. Does that sound right?

    Defender 90 - 200TDi losing power

I pulled the connector out and made sure it had 12v with the ignition on, then I placed the connector against the terminal to make sure I could hear it. I could pull it altogether but I'm checking other things at the mo. That unit by my tank is another solenoid - guessing part of the...

Hey guys, what's this little wired unit next to my fuel tank?

    Defender 90 - 200TDi losing power

So I checked that the solenoid was functioning, and wobbled the connector about a bit to see if it intermittently worked but it seemed fine. The feed to the injector pump is good, I will check the rear. One other thought was whether I should fill a jug with some fresh diesel, and run my lift...

    Defender 90 - 200TDi losing power

So I put in the new lift pump and it's still got the same problem. Best way to witness it is when the engine is running, in neutral, hold the throttle at 50% - the revs climb as they should and hold steady for 10-15 secs or so and then they will fall until the engine falls below idle and you...
