What did you do with your Range Rover today

G'day folks. So after the best part of 6 months trying to get these dash lights work in illuminating and they're still not working. So I'll try and cover one last time what I have done. All wires checked. Earth/ground points checked and cleaned where necessary. Plugs/connectors all checked...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

I'm not saying that at all. Everything on the instrument cluster works as it should aside from the whole thing illuminating. All of the buttons on the dash work, hazard lights, ride height, as well as the clock, but none of the lights on the switches work except for the 4 orange lights for the...

Yep. Also the lights along the dash for everything except ride height don't work and the same with the gear lever surround. These all stopped working at the exact same time.

What did you do with your Range Rover today

I have been told by the bloke who was helping me with the soldering, he also does MOTs, that yes it would fail. As for warning lights hahahahaha remove the ABS fuse and all of a sudden there isn't a warning light. His words. hahaha

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Yes this is a P38 and RAVE has been my bible through all of this. Re the test lamp, I forgot to say I did that as well. There are likely other steps I took that I have forgotten now. I've only been working to fix this problem for the last 6 months on & off ..

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Okay I give up. I have tried absolutely everything I can think of and that others can think of to get the lights in my dash to illuminate. Checked every wire fo continuity, replaced the indicator stalk and yes, I tried the switch for the dash on both the stalks. I've had the two connectors in...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Finally got the connectors in the driver's side kick panel removed and all wires soldered together for that to also not make any difference. So after spending a small fortune on this, having replaced or had components refurbished all I am left with is seeing if I can get power to the 4 pins for...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

I'm almost at the point where I'm going to wreck this thing. I know they're cash guzzlers but right now everything seems to not want to work. Which is a PITA because I need it to be able to pass its MOT in February and I don't want to buy another one because it may also need just as much spent...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

I didn't do it today but the 2nd top hose is fitted (sometime during the week) and stopped the engine from overheating. It's not fun when you fit a replacement for the original and it ends up fouling on a pulley that then wears through it. So take 2 but this time with the proper hose and all is...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

It certainly makes sense with regards to future-proofing it but I guess the main reason from the factory would be £ out of their pocket. Plus you don't want to fix a problem forever because you're not going to make money then. Certainly something worth looking at as a long-term solution. I...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Another thing I found out about our car is that it has beautiful pops, bangs and burbles on the overrun when on petrol but not so pronounced when on LPG. I only noticed it because we didn't have the radio installed because I misplaced it (which I later found and installed without issue) but I...

Agreed. Design things to last only long enough to do a job but not too long so it never has to be replaced.

That's (should be metal) was the first thing that came to my mind yesterday. Perhaps the reason it isn't is that as flexible as even hardened plastic can be. I don't know though and could be talking utter bollocks. I am sure the plethora of experts we have here can tell us the pros and cons of...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

G'day folks. Does anyone have any experience with the Britpart top hose? The plastic t-piece let go yesterday arvo when coming home. Steam was billowing out the back and then engine bay as we stopped. No I didn't drive it home. I called the AA and a flatbed was out to load it up and bring it...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Today I did nothing but yesterday and the last few days there was movement at the station. I received the BECM back from Rick, what a great guy and super fast with the work and redelivery of it to me. It fixed the issue with the driver's door latch sticking, which is great. It hasn't fixed the...

    Auto Sparky near Lanark

Hi folks, Can someone recommend a really good sparky that could do a small bit of work for me on my P38? I just need a couple of the connectors removed/replaced and soldering. Cheers Craig

I've already hooked it up with Richard thanks bud. I just need to send these two computer parts off so he can wave his magic wand over them and hopefully fix my troubles. I'll be fully fit in a few days to take the driver's seat out to get to them.
