best servo brake light switch to buy?

To all - I must say it is refreshing to read all of this after so much suffering I've been through on this issue. I won't share my drama as it is identical to a combination of everything above. I will say, that needing an inspection this week, I was determined to fix the brake light switch, and...

Tapping/clicking noise that changes with rpm

Kane - Thanks for this advice in what direction to go. Based on my description could it also be my engine bearings or rod knock, something like that? If the answer is a gasket, that would be really great. Will try the timing first, then look at exhaust. Thanks! Mike

    smiths/jaeger speedometer repair manual link

Thanks for the help. I tried a few different adapters and a flex driver. I like the idea of a long hex key. I'll look around.

Tapping/clicking noise that changes with rpm

I have a 2.25 L petrol and get a similar sound. To me, my engione sounds like it is clattering. Machine-gun like, and occurs only at the top of the revs just before changing gears. At the top of 2nd, at the top of 3rd, and even when accelerating in 4th before I change to overdrive. When...

    smiths/jaeger speedometer repair manual link

Just got back my rebuilt speedometer from Nisonger Instruments (NY). Looks great, but now I find that my cable - which turns beautifully with a paperclip taped on the end of it - will not make the speedo work. Apparently the nub on the inner cable is a few sixteenths of an inch short. So I...

    Dash lights

Col - Yeah - that is a problem. The LED tops are basically held on my the thin wires themselves. I'm going to invent a special tool for gripping only 1mm of the thin metal rim of small light bulbs. It would be like a bead crimper or tire valve puller. Maybe it's already out there... Mike

    Dash lights

I can't explain why, however about the dimness of dash lighting, I can share what I've done on my IIA. I've replaced all of the instrument panel bulbs with LED bulbs with these exceptions: Green oil pressure warning light bulb, amber cold start warning bulb, and main ignition warning light...

    Heater switch wiring query.

Thanks all for this - I have a 1970 Series IIA, and have not yet tackled this issue.I did notice over the winter that the blower motor seemed to have only one speed (very slow) regardless of whether switch was in middle position or full on. So this all is helpful. David - I liked that wiring...

No Nipple - not even a space for one - 1980 Series 3 SWB

I have a Series IIA, and also get the same clunk when taking foot off the gas. Do I need to worry about it? I'm new to this too, so it will be a long process for me to learn the details of what you all are discussing above. I shall return to this thread with more questions eventually. Thanks! Mike

Route for the window washer pipes

Ramraider - I recently did this install on my Series IIA, so not sure if this helps. Here is my YouTube video: VIDEO You just run the tubing from the jets along one side of the dash where the jets come inside, and out the bulkhead at a convenient spot. Run the single wire from the switch to...

Series 3 2.25 Petrol Valve Adjustment - Great improvement!

Thanks, James - When you say rocker box, do you mean the valve cover or the actual top of the engine block? Sorry - just learning some of the terms... Mike

Series 3 2.25 Petrol Valve Adjustment - Great improvement!

Thanks, Longstride, for your inspiration. I ordered a new valve cover gasket, and have it sitting ready. I also bought the feeler gauges. I'm a bit nervous about doing this too, so I understand where you were at. I've never done it before, and I've watched a few videos on how to do it, so I...

    New alternator

Blackburn - Great question. I also installed a Smiths voltmeter over the weekend, and my volts are 13 ish and above when engine running. When I gun the engine needle moves up. When I turn on lights and everything, voltage drops very slightly. So all looks great now. Question - is there a...

    New alternator

Hey All - I figured out my charging light problem!!! It was grounded to the dash itself. The washer that held the bare bulb in place was grounding it. I replaced the assembly with a plastic housing, and works great. Ignition key clicked (engine not on) the light is ON. Engine started, and the...
