    Transmission whine, is this normal?

Ok, given me some peace of mind. Thanks. Perhaps the LT77 is just like that? I'm struggling to remember how loud my other defender was but I think it had better soundproofing.

    Transmission whine, is this normal?

Hi all, So i've acquired an ex-mil '86 110 with the 2.5 N/A engine and LT77 gearbox. I've noticed the whine especially above 40mph is quite loud on this landrover vs the '94 that I had. There is barely any soundproofing whatsoever so this could be why. When I take off the inspection plate it's...

    Defender 2020 pics and info

It looks much more akin to a newer version of the Freelander 1 rather than a newer defender. I get why they're doing this - they need to make the style workable as an electric car eventually and having the old body style wouldn't really suit. Personally I think it's the best they could have...

Driving home for christmas and she broke down

Hi all. Just an update. I still haven't got round to fixing the landy, it's sitting on my drive. Unfortunately I can't fit a new gearbox myself and the quote to fit it is not exactly encouraging me to get it done! I have been questioning lately what to do with it and have looked into my issue a...

Driving home for christmas and she broke down

Had a chance to pull her apart. Gearbox needs replacing and although the clutch is working it needs doing too. VCU also needed doing because it's getting very tight when turning. I'll have to think carefully about whether or not it's worth fixing these issues. It's unfortunate because it's in...

Driving home for christmas and she broke down

I completely agree. I hadn't even thought about breakdown cover until now. AA has quoted me £200 per year for full UK cover and parts and garage cover up to £535 per year up to 5 times claim limit on the freelander. Had I got that, I would already have saved almost a grand. That is why i'm...

Driving home for christmas and she broke down

Haha, yeah. As my first ride the insurance was expensive so I opted out of breakdown cover. In hindsight, I don't think you should be allowed to buy a Landrover without it.

Driving home for christmas and she broke down

Thanks for the advice. Trouble is, I really do like the landy. I will probably fix it but driving it anywhere will be a pain because I'll always be worried about it breaking down.

Driving home for christmas and she broke down

Hi mate thanks for the offer, not quite how I planned spending Christmas Eve stuck at an esso garage!! I've organised a tow truck but once it's home i'll establish if it's a gearbox or clutch issue and determine whether she's worth saving. Either way, it doesn't sound cheap.

Driving home for christmas and she broke down

Hi all and merry christmas. Unfortunately the landy (freelander 04) packed up tonight and ive had to leave her at a random petrol station awaiting a tow. It has been hard getting into first and it will often pop out of reverse, but tonight i was driving on a motorway and began to hear some...

Freelander TD4 2004 Vibrations and juddering

Apologies, I meant transmission. If it is a misfire is this related to anything like the low pressure pump? I've seen your video on the smoke and whilst I get the same I also get that bumping on the drivers side. Can a misfire really be that consistent to cause a bump every second? When my fuel...

Freelander TD4 2004 Vibrations and juddering

It could be a misfire - what i'm feeling is under the driver's seat somewhere and it is every second on the dot it almost feels like a pump or a heartbeat but it is bumping the seat when I hold at 2-2.5k even when stationary and not driving. Surely if it was the drivechain this would only happen...

Freelander TD4 2004 Vibrations and juddering

Thanks for your reply. There’s a certain threshold of problems before I start to look into them because theyre every week at the moment! Have looked into the mod and may fit a new thermostat but was holding back just in case someone thinks something else is causing it. The bumping is engine...

Freelander TD4 2004 Vibrations and juddering

Hi guys and thanks in advance for any advice given. I'm having the following issues: When I rev to about 2000-25000rpm there is a bump every second ish which seems to be coming from drivers side front (I can feel the seat bumping). This is noticeable revving from stationary but in 1st and...

Freelander 1 Freelander TD4 2004 Low Fuel Pressure

Predictably, the garage lost the new mushroom which is longer in length and has the ability to crush the washer and seal the sensor in contrast with the older one which is shorted and left a gap hence the leak. I found the new one in the engine bay, managed to fit it and so far so good. After 20...

Freelander 1 Freelander TD4 2004 Low Fuel Pressure

Didn't have the tools to fit the new fuel sensor so I took it to my local garage. They fitted it and it fixed the problem...for 30 miles. Then it started ****ing out diesel, filling the car with white fumes. Lost 1/4 of a tank in 6 miles but made it home and I live to see another day. Starting...

Freelander 1 Freelander TD4 2004 Low Fuel Pressure

Checked the numbers three times over - definitely in the right place. I'm not sure what to do. There does seem to be a small leak under the engine bay and i'm thinking this could be a leak in the high pressure fuel pump but the error codes are saying the sensor is malfunctioning P0193

Freelander 1 Freelander TD4 2004 Low Fuel Pressure

Replaced the harness myself. Started it up and now i've got 2 yellow engine lights, one normal and one !. Still the same problem where the engine is hesitating. Not sure what to do...might replace the sensor next or take to a garage...

Freelander 1 Freelander TD4 2004 Low Fuel Pressure

Ok...I've cleaned the connectors with contact cleaner and a tooth brush. Though I tried my best, they are still pretty dirty: I could try with a wire brush because the dirt is a tough but i'm afraid of wrecking the connector. Based on these photos, is it likely that this is the problem? I...
