It that smoke coming out of the EGR pipe too? Looks like it's puffing on every stroke. I know very little about engines like this so that could be normal in a situation like this, just thought it's worth a mention.

I have those lights on mine, the wiring (as mentioned in a previous post) goes through the grommet with the larger loom on the passenger side. I have attached a couple of pics for you to see - they aren't the best as there's not a lot of space there.

Three bolts (M6 I think) and some Poundshop epoxy will do the trick. I had to do the same a couple of months back when I did the same as you opening the tailgate.

Is it the orange bit in this pic that you think has seized? That would make sense as the only way the wheels could move would be one forward and one backwards if that's the case?

My mate has autodata and has just sent me a pic, It's not great quality though. It says this for main bearings. 1) 10 Nm 2) Slacken off 180 degrees 3) 23 Nm 4) 46 degrees. Hope this helps.
