What have you done to your Freelander today

I allowed my infinitely better half to drive my FL2 down to Norfolk from Argyll. I cunningly reset the trip computer just before she left so it'll be interesting to see what mpg she achieves. I've been averaging 34.2 for the past couple of thousand miles. I've always maintained she's a less...

    Suspicious noise 🙏🏻

Sounds like something knocking. I had something similar. Have a look at the stainless downpipe from the turbo. There's a mounting flange/tab on mine which broke off meaning the pipe rattled around. I got a local engineering firm to weld it back on ( FOC as it happens) and that cured the problem.

    FL2 - buying advice

Beyond economic repair in my opinion is when the cost of keeping my 17 year old FL2 with almost 227,000 miles on the clock would exceed the cost of buying a replacement. Like the OP I would happily trade mine in for a 2014 model, but good ones are hard to find and are holding their value well...

Fixed my jammed rear seatbelt. Yeah! :D

Freelander 2 (LR2) Rear centre seatbelt (SORTED)

All sorted! I used a scissor jack to lift the seat back as much as I dared to give me access to the bottom end fixing nut; it's 18mm. Got that undone and once I'd taken some of the strain off the belt by lowering the jack a little I was able to prise the bottom fitting bracket off. Note: The...

Freelander 2 (LR2) Rear centre seatbelt (SORTED)

I think there is a rollover mode with these seatbelts. With the rear seat folded down I know I lurched down a very potholey descent and I reckon whatever locks the seatbelt drum in the event of a rollover got activated. I’m still no nearer gaining access to the drum though. I might be able to...

Swore at it. (see thread about rear seatbelt)

Freelander 2 (LR2) Rear centre seatbelt (SORTED)

Houston, we have a problem. The larger of the two rear seat backs is folded down and the centre seatbelt, having taken up the slack, has jammed. Now I cannot raise the centre seat back. Wiggle the seatbelt it as much as I like, but I cannot get it free. Cannot get at the bottom to unbolt it (if...

Holy smoke Batman! Hope no-one was hurt. P.S. That’s why 3rd party cover for my boat runs at £5 million. Easy to run up a claim like that in a marina if your boat goes up in flames.

What have you done to your Freelander today

Met a guy driving a 20 year old Land Cruiser who boasted it was coming up on 200,000 miles. I told him “You’ve a bit to go yet mate. My 17 year old Freelander’s just passed 226,000 miles.”

What have you done to your Freelander today

Just got back from a 400 mile round trip to attend a christening this weekend. Managed to squeeze the contents of a 1 ton tote sack of seasoned oak firewood (+ wife, dog, suitcase, boots, wellies, coats, etc) into the back for the return trip. Nothing broke, cruise control down the motorways at...

Freelander 2 (LR2) Damned Apple Update!

Looks easy to get at behind the RH boot trim. I might give it a go.

Freelander 2 (LR2) Damned Apple Update!

Funnily enough @Nodge68 I had a pulsating audio system a few months ago. mentioned it here, but it seemed to go away. Looks like it's returned! Given the age of the vehicle and how rarely I need BT connection I'll probably just live without the functionality. Unless their is a cheap and easy fix.

Freelander 2 (LR2) Damned Apple Update!

For years my iPhone 8 has happily connected through Bluetooth so I can receive calls on the move. Not since the last IOS update though. Unless, of course, something on the car has gone on the blink. (2007 FL2 SE).

Whats it worth? Freelander 2 GS TDS 4 2009 Automatic

That's my plan, except I'm more likely to go for a plug-in hybrid. 20~30 mile range under battery would cater for all the local journeys, while a modest petrol or diesel ICE would suffice for the longer trips.

Whats it worth? Freelander 2 GS TDS 4 2009 Automatic

Looks clean (seat covers FFS!), but sadly they're only worth what someone is prepared to pay for a second hand car. You can either drop your asking price to sell it quick or hang on until someone comes along who is looking for a well maintained clean example of the marque.

    Freelander 2 (LR2) Freelander 2 TD4 GS accelerator issue

I fitted a new throttle bought off eBay. Wasn't expensive and it worked without any re-programming. Performance normal.
