Tiny bit of the interior polishing I’ve been doing. Got one door card done. Added black panel and repaired the bin and painted that black too. Neely veneered insert in. Came out tidy and didn’t lose any of the texture. Also resprayed speaker surround and handle surround

Learning to fix Land Rovers like a pro - career advice wanted

Also, my posts are trying to be helpful so hope I don’t come across patronising - don’t box yourself into a corner and look at something that would benefit you and a career in mech in the future.

Learning to fix Land Rovers like a pro - career advice wanted

I used to work part time at a Landy specialist for a “top up” and access to ramps and trade price parts. I had done mech at college but the only real experience I had was on previous cars I’d owned. I soon realised I knew jack **** compared to the qualified techs too and that was reflected in...

    Discovery 3.9 v8 - rebuilds, reliability, options….

I have read about the odd slipped 3.5 liner but not so great it seems. Either way if I strip it all down it will get rebored for new rings so may aswell get linered which then sends me down the “should you rebore whilst here”. Other option is visual inspection, head gaskets and new timing gear...

    Discovery 3.9 v8 - rebuilds, reliability, options….

Fresh news. I think it’s actually a 3.5 EFI. My mates getting the numbers today off if. So, is the consensus the 3.5s don’t slip the liners? Thanks for all your inputs by the way - it feels like I’ve turned up 10 years too late for this v8 and as much as I read up it’s invaluable getting your...

    Discovery 3.9 v8 - rebuilds, reliability, options….

Sorry mate, I meant ‘slippy liners’ 😂 Engine has been sat for a while but I’ve got it on a very good deal. I also want to rebuild it because I’m doing everything else fresh and I love an engine rebuild. I’ve got a local firm who can do the tophat liners,

Cheers. I’ve got one sorted with loom. Engine mounts - have to relocate/weld new brackets on to suit v8 I assume. Welders not happy over 3mm with the 13a plug on it!
