    Freelander Rat problem

Am I the only one that has a permanent rat trap wired to my engine? I live in the country and have had a series of rats crapping on top of my engine oil refill cover. My trap works fine but I have to stop every now and again because I have forgotten to check before setting out and a barbecued...

Fl1 Door handle inside front drivers door gone wonky

I recently had a small round plastic disc drop out from the door card since then the inside handle does not seem to have the same effect in opening the door. It will open but needs to be pushed over much harder to get enough leverage. Are these two issues connected ??

Freelander 1 Roof Rack fitting going wrong!

I removed the grab handle above offside rear door, prised off the plastic window surround and got access to inside the headliner. Much fishing around produced the threaded plate that had somehow drooped away from the roof. Next job is to return the plate to its original location and get the roof...

Freelander 1 Roof Rack fitting going wrong!

No but I have successfully fitted the nearside but when fitting the offside the front has two threaded holes in a plate so connection were no problem there but at rear I removed the bolts only to find that there seems to be no plate with threads in to take rack fixing screws.

Freelander 1 Roof Rack fitting going wrong!

Help! Busy fitting roof rack to Fl1. Nearside no problem. Offside rack seems to have threaded plate under the holes to take rack bolts at front but I cannot find one at offside rear. As a result I cannot tighten bolts at offside rear. Can anyone advise?.

    Window regulator

Thanks. The plug is not the problem as I know that only fits one way. It is the case that the coloured wires have broken off the plug and I could not work out which way they fit to the one way plug.

    window regulators

When removing / dismantling the old regulator I found the door latch cable seems to pass behind the unit. Do I need to disconnect this cable before re-installing the new regulator.?

Freelander 1 center console aux socket can you still get them?

I hoped there would be wiring for an aux socket in the side panel at the rear. I removed it and found no cable. I then ran a 12 v supply to the socket and cut a hole in the side pabel and now have two 12 v aux sockets. I have tried a aux/usb from eBay but it burnt out!!

Freelander 1 center console aux socket can you still get them?

If you take out the four screws under the lid on the centre console you pull out the plastic box and that exposes the handbrake cables but fixed to one side of the console housing you will see a black/purple cable with black connections that take a male connector. The plastic panel at the back...

Freelander 1 center console aux socket can you still get them?

I installed an auxiliary socket in the back of the centre console in my 56 plate Freelander 1. Hardest job was cutting the hole as I did not have a cutter that small. Works a treat. Took 30 minutes tops.

[How to] Tailgate window regulator repair / replacement.

Finally got it level. Tried recalbration procedure 12 times and gave up. Locked the Freelander and went to bed. Got up in morning and everything was the same plus it refused to start! An hour later it roared into life and the window operated perfectly! Puzzling! Thanks for the suggestions anyway...

[How to] Tailgate window regulator repair / replacement.

Fitted new regulator. Problem is the longstanding marks on the glass where the old glass clamps bear no relationship to the new glass clamps. I have spaced them out as equally as I can. Window is not level and offset. When recalibrating the window keeps going down and when raising it stops...
