    Series three rear oil seal

Morning, the only thing i see in the engineering drawings actually is a large "O" ring between the flywheel housing and the block "ERC6432" for the 5MB, can anyone confirm this, my leak is definitely not between the housing and the block but from the oil seal and coming out of the wading plug hole.

    Organised overlanding trips

Gents, I have the west Alpine route planned for May/June if anyone is interested. I live in the east of Switzerland (Sankt Gallen) although I own a series 3 (88) i'm not certain if she will be fit by then yet (ream main oil seal nightmare) if not I have a (non landy) alternative. Basically the...

    Series three rear oil seal

Thanks Steve, yea its actually our 3rd attempt at this, jup we have a crane and like last time will be taking the gearbox out. Floor pan and seat box bolts should be easy as we replaced all of em last time. I'm hopeful that the last two failures are due to cheap second rate seals which is why...

    Series three rear oil seal

And once again back to square one, the drip became a steady flow but only after switching off but it’s so annoying now. I guess that’s my project for spring when the snow has gone. Any tips guys? Yes of course I’m going to NOT use the 5 quid seal but go for the OEM. Could there be anything else...

Series 3 ACR Powerplus cylinder head & cam -anyone done this?

Switzerland is a red tape by the book nightmare. any mods that are visible are a no go, so when the MOT tester sees the turbo your in trouble and like your vehicle gets put off the road and in extreme cases can be seized if they consider the mod to be dangerous. So the SU carb is fine as its...

And how does it drive now compared to before, like does this make it a viable daily driver?

Land Rover Owner Magazine no more

Me too very sad, so as I live in Switzerland reading the online version for me was the only way and I have just received the "end of life" notice. I wonder what happens to all the project vehicles the team have bought over the years. I grew up near Dunsfold and was shocked to see Dunsfold...

LHD Series 3 throttle linkage question...

Nice looking S3 there. So same but different as mines a petrol, however I have fitted an SU carb and had issues with an adapter plate that didn't quite fit on my LHD so I made one using some 5mm plate, drilled holes and cold bent it to shape in the vice, just an idea in case you cant get that part.

    1.8 Petrol Cold Start Problem

I know this is an old thread but we have exactly the same issue, did this get fixed? Alpine greetings Simon

Freelander 1 Cold Start hiccups !

So we replaced the HG and this has only been happening since, thanks for the throttle advice .. so it really could be a sensor issue then not sending what it needs? Anyone think getting the codes read would help? And is there anyway then to trigger a "choked" type cold start? Simon

Freelander 1 Cold Start hiccups !

Greetings Folks, So we recently did a head gasket on our 1.8 Petrol with success (after setting the timing as per the workshop manual) however there does seem to be a cold start issue, sometimes no problem fires on the first turn of the key, other times its nearly 10 minutes of turning over with...

Freelander 1 SOLVED - Headgasket changed - no spark - timing?

Gents, so we had success today the Landy is running like a dream. We found that the timing was out, we reset the timing using the lower pulley mark and setting the cam sprockets as per the workshop manual and not back as we took them off, the inlet (LH) and the exhaust (RH) lined up, we contact...

Series 3 Spluttering and carb blowback

Sounds familiar so here's my experience. The first time i had the "run fine for a while followed by no start" it was the timing caused by a worn sprocket and stretched chain which became a bit of a lottery and actually an easy weekend of spanners fix. Then I had very similar problems after my...

Freelander 1 SOLVED - Headgasket changed - no spark - timing?

We fully charged the battery and heated the plugs with a gas torch before sunday's try and it did fire on the first turn when the plugs were still hot, so i'm thinking the combination of hot plug and weak spark was enough for it to cough just the once. New coil is on order the snow is now deep...

Freelander 1 SOLVED - Headgasket changed - no spark - timing?

We did indeed set them as shown and didn't move the crank. so I'm still going with spark but we'll check it

Freelander 1 SOLVED - Headgasket changed - no spark - timing?

Thanks Andy, we found there is indeed a stamped mark on the crank pulley and although we haven't been able to look (see) the other marks on the cover I can feel it is there, the plastic inner wing cover is in the way and its started snowing again up here so time out for today. Coil is on order...

Freelander 1 SOLVED - Headgasket changed - no spark - timing?

No we don’t know this, this our first Freelander, I’m a series 3 guy, as far as I understand you correctly we line up the cam sprockets to those two marks and the lower mark on the crank should match… I’m still thinking it’s spark though but please tell us more simon
